View Full Version : So what did you do with your hanging baskets?

I think Ive been a bit slack this year because Ive only just replaced my summer (fuchsia) baskets either side of the front door with winter pansies underplanted with tete a tete. I raised the pansies from seed, but when I do this they never look as nice as garden centre bought ones.

Anyway, the hanging baskets with the fuchsias in are still intact as I had bought some more baskets and didnt need to turf them out. I will be figuring out what to do about overwintering them soon. I usually take out the fuchsias, trim them down, put them in a smaller pot and try and overwinter them in a greenhouse or similar. If I dont get round to this I just do the lazy thing and throw them out and buy new next year!

I cleared my winter one out last week and put 6 pansies in (2 saved from last year!) and a cyclamen in the centre (again saved from last year). Underneath is a ring of croci and under them a ring of tete-e-tete.

Should prove some nice colour :)

I wish I'd picked up a cheap liner from the wilkos sales a couple months back - otherwise I would have had another to put up, oh well!

I made all year round hanging baskets in the Spring. I bought Perrenial evergreens and planted bedding plants in between. When the bedding plants have died, I will plant miniature bulbs in their place .I therefor keep the same baskets all year round.

That sounds like a good idea pattricia.

I have outed the fuchsias now, trimmed them down, put them into pots in the garage. The begonias which were an afterthought with the fuchsias are still looking nice, so I potted them up for the house.
