Having troruble with virus protection. Antivir will not load the scheduler and I have tried to reinstall it with no joy.

When I download the AVG and try and set it up, I get a msg saying 'Not a valid win32 application'.

Am I right in thinking this program isn't compatable with my laptop or can anyone shed any light on how I could get it to install or what action to take regarding virus protection??

Many thanks!

What OS are you using?

Please don't say Vista.... :)

I'd say the download was corrupt

try this link

http://free.grisoft.com/filedir/inst/avg75free_488a1157.exe

it will download the executable directly

then run it to reinstall AVG

if you still get the "Not a valid Win32 application" then you could try removing the installed AVG using add/remove programs from the control panel and trying again

Ahhh....good show.

I know some folks have had entertaining times with AVG and Vista - glad you got it sorted!

it's a confusing site to download from unless you know pretty much exactly what you are looking for, you probably picked up the update file which is basically a zip of files which they've added to and definitely isn't executable.

Glad you sorted it out
