Hi Roger,
I'm not sure about dates or anything, but the church is still standing I believe, although most of the old hospital is gone now to new housing.

The church was built specifically for the Hospital. Prior to the Hospital being built the land was a park called Wadsley Park, hence Wadsley Park Village the name of the new estate.

I used to live on the winn Gardens estate across the road from where the new Houses have been built.
When they were buidling them, they put up a huge sign reading ' The Copse'
We were going to make one of our own...reading ' The Robbers'
:D

Middlewood Hospital was built 1896 and opened april 1872, before the hospital was built there stood a chapel and burial ground. On our site you will find the purches deeds.
Did quite a bit of research on the hospital.
bikertec did you ever find anything spooky about middlewood hosp? i worked there 8 years and it always seemed a bit spooky, especially when most of the wards were closed and you had to walk through them in the dark to get around, it was a right rabbit warren!
one night I was walking through a darkened upstairs ward and was scared to death by a patient sat on the bare floor in the middle of the ward! cant imagine how long he'd been there.
Does anyone know the plans for the Church now the hospital has closed down?

Just been having a look at the pitures on the paranormal site
I worked at middlewood in the late 70`s early 80`s, the photo of the building that was wards 51/2 ect makes me so sad, beautiful building left to rot, what a shame
Will you be posting any more piccies/info of your experiences there Bikertec ?
Hope you are recovered from your accident Mick
