I just orded a laptop from work that was £199 + vat and postage, anyways when i got to the basket i noticed the delivery cost was £60
I mean WHAT , upto 5 day delivery £60, it should have been same day for that
So, thats how Dell make money!

It's a little pricey, but then how much would you pay elsewhere for shipping a bulky box next day with insurance? (Given that Dell build everything to spec, you are probably paying for next day delivery with a 5 day production time on the unit).
I once questioned a huge delivery charge from Dell and they (our account manager anyway) said they took some off the price of the PC to allow for it and that's what they always do! Sounds a bit strange to be honest, I'm sure there is some kind of tax avoidance technique that works a bit like that.

Dell have always been rather pricey on delivery.
Go for HP you have a choice of suppliers, rather than being almost tied to Dell.

so it's like £280 or so for the laptop and £20 delivery (inc VAT.) or so :suspect:
We though summat like that to be honist as £199 for a lappy with
3500xp CPU
1gb Ram
60gig SATA HDD
256mb ATI card
DVD/CDRW
ect.... seemed to me to be too cheap so the actual cost is hidden in 'other' charges.
Wait till its about to be delivered, then call them to cancel your order, they'll defo offer it to you at a reduced price.

5 days to deliver? Ha! You'll be lucky!!
Is this a home purchase or a business purchase?
We buy loads off Dell at work and their delivery times are awful, we get free delivery though so can't really complain.
