The cattery should provide scratchy things, I know we do for cats that come to us

I have to say that borrowing one off another cat is likely to confuse her even more- her space in the cattery will smell of lots of other cats and her scratching post will smell of different cats.

Have you checked that the cattery don't have scratching pads on the walls? Many do, and the space available to the cats would be rather cramped with free standing ones.

I have 1 our cats dont use very much but I am with Medusa on this one, try a spray called felifriend to reduce stress and argos for a cheap scrather I would suggest.

we were going to use feliway but the receptionist at the vets advised us against it and gave us a right dirty look!

im getting really worried about putting her in the cattery now. dont think im going to enjoy my holiday at all knowing she's there wondering whats happening.

but at such short notice theres not much else we can do.

On the Feliway issue, perhaps the receptionist had never heard of it ?

Perhaps ring around and get a couple of opinions or look at cat forums online to get other peoples feedback.

She will be fine, cats are on holiday every other day of the year.

I'm sure she'll be fine- if she's got some of her familiar things around her -and dont forget, cats tend to sleep a lot of the time (more than we probably think) so for emily, the time will fly - you on the other hand will spend your entire holiday fretting that she wil never forgive you.

Be assured- she will treat you with utter disdain the moment you collect her but will allow you to feed her her favorite treat (but then pretend she doesnt want it). 24 hrs later things will be back to normal.

I'm sure this is only an issue because you haven't done it before. Once she's back with you healthy and happy you'll wonder why you were getting so worried about it.

well ive been thinking alot about it and when we went to the kennels the kittys there looked rather happy, some were there because their houses had been flooded and they needed somewhere to stay! they were all fluffy and wanted to play with me :)

and my emilys a brave girl, she stayed at the vets for 2 nights when she was ill and came back fussing me more than ever.
and last weekend I went to my parents and left emily with the oh, and shes EVEN more attached to me now (shes started crying outside the bathroom when im trying to have a wee!)

though kitty123 has made a very nice offer to have emily stay with her and her sister hattie, so I shall be speaking to the oh about it

thanks tattybear and hunni also, you're all stars :)
