What a rotten end to what could be a crucial win at Celtic Park tonight. Dida, and the 'fan' are both a disgrace, the fan more so by a long way, but more importantly for Celtic, UEFA may award the three points to AC Milan.

Just after Celtic went 2-1 up at home in the Moneybags' League against AC Milan, a 'fan' ran on to the field and hit the keeper. Not that hardly, admittedly, but whichever way, he should be banned from football grounds for life.

Dida then ran five yards before collapsing as if shot, and being carried off. Unless there was a weapon involved (please, I hope there wasn't), his antics were 'interesting'.

The repercussions for Celtic may be very, very costly, because of one complete eejit.

I know. The air was blue round here, I can tell you. What an idiot.

Personally, I reckon he was actually an Italian, who works as an ice-cream man in Glasgow, dressed up as a Celtic supporter... :hihi:

Well Done Celtic though - brilliant stuff

I've not seen it yet but heard about it. What a stupid idiot to go on the pitch!!! Apparently he cheekily wiped Dida's cheek and he went down as if pole-axed.

I know it's the stewards job to stop anyone entering the field but I hope Celtic don't get deducted the points and that Dida gets fined/suspended for ungentlemanly conduct.

I think Celtic will get a massive fine at least for one fans stupid behaviour.

Sometime around 1971, didn't Borussia Munchengladbach thrash Inter Milan 7-1, and because some stupid idiot threw a Coca Cola can onto the pitch, that result was declared null and void, and Inter Milan went on to win the replayed match 4-2 and go all the way to the European Cup Final, where they lost 2-0 against a Cruyff-inspired Ajax (now THAT was a team).

From the clip I've seen on Breakfast TV, the person appeared to make contact just above the sternum yet the ice-pack was been held to his cheek. Cheek been the operative word!
Obviously, serious repercussions need taking because he could have held a knife but it was laughable how at first, he tried to run after the spectator and then thought it may have been beneficial to collapse.

I think the reaction of the keeper says exactly what is wrong about football today. I hope the keeper gets a long ban from the champions league. Whilst I do not think the celtic supporter was covering himself in glory. The man made contact with the throat and only a slight contact at that. The keepers reaction was way over the top.

Next football match I go to I think I will sit with the other team's fans and if we are loosing I'll throw a sponge ball at our keeper. He can then go down like he has been hit by a bullet and they can forfeit the game.

Seems like this is the way it could end up going if things like this become more regular.

Been there, done that. In 1989, The Chile goalkeeper sliced himself with a razor blade to fake having been hit by a firework thrown by a Brazil fan. (The firework had genuinely been thrown, but missed him by a yard.) The Chile team abandoned the field and refused to continue the game.

After FIFA studied video evidence, they tossed Chlie out of that World Cup, and the next. The 'keeper was banned for life, but reinstated twelve years later.

I think Dida should go the same way as the Dodo, Di, Dodi and Dando.

It's as well that Milan weren't playing Liverpool.

Disgusting from Dida. To me, it looked like a cheeky slap around the face. It wasn't a punch at all. Bit like the Rivaldo incident when the ball was kicked at him.

You can just imagine the conversation between the physio and Deedah, (who must be from Barnsley with a name like that), "Staya downa deeda, pretenda to be really ina da pain anna we get dis match given to us even if weea lose it."

Ice pack on the cheek ?? He's having a laugh. Anybody whose ever played football in any of the Saturday or Sunday leagues will be on the floor in hysterics. I've seen goalies wanting to play on with a dislocated shoulder, heads covered in blood, huge bumps on eyebrows, players refusing to come off even when they couldn't walk.
That goalie wants throwing out of football, (along with the fan who ran on the pitch).

1956 FA Cup Final - Bert Trautmann - continued with a broken neck, though I thought unwise, for City!

Apparently the celtic 'fan' in question has just handed himself in to a Glasgow police station this afternoon...

Dida was laughable...I hope he's suitably embarrassed by his oscar winning performance!

It would've been really funny if it weren't for the possible consequences for Celtic - the keeper ran after the bloke, then went down like he'd been shot. What a chancer - I hope he gets the book thrown at him for unsporting behaviour

Celtic have banned the fan for life, home and away. Not really a surprise there.

the fan has been banned for life - bit of an over-reaction from the club. He got over excited and ran onto the pitch, maybe should get a year ban. If every bar banned every customer who did something silly all town centres would be empty

Dida is a tosser

The fan hasn't just run on the pitch though; he's assaulted a player. (Very meekly and mildly, no doubting that; but it's still an assault.)

Suspicion is that Celtic have imposed a life ban to show UEFA they're serious about it, and that might mitigate the punishment meted out to the club. Probably will be a sizeable fine; possibly they'll have to play a game behind closed doors, but it's highly doubtful anything harsher will be done.

What'll happen to Dida? Who knows. Rojas got banned for twelve years, but he hadn't actually been touched at all, and Dida - very gently - was.

Maybe Dida should pursue a career in the WWE after this one :hihi:

Breaking News - UEFA are investigating the Celtic incident and have promised that if Celtic are found guilty of misconduct then Leeds United will be docked a further ten points ;)

I see celtic have been fined £25.000, half of it suspended and that actor that masqueraded as a goalkeeper has a two match ban. Don't think the ban is long enough

I think a two match ban for unsportsmanlike behaviour is fine. But Milan will appeal, get it down to a fine and get on with things. Further bringing the game into disrepute itself cos UEFA are so weak. Unless I am being very cynical.

2 games is fair, I just wish that every time a player cheats as Dida did they got this sort of ban. That might help to restore some of the reputation of football.
