Can anyone suggest where to go for a long, sturdy, non-extendable dog lead (like the ones that Mick uses on Dog Borstal).
Pets At Home don't do any over the standard 1m (40") length.
It needs to be thick enough to handle an exuberant English Bull Terrier.

There is a pet shop in hillsborough (dont know if thats anywhere near you) that what he hasnt got in he will try and get for you. Our long one is from pets at home so it must be the longest they do. Other than that your best bet would be online. Google what you want and see what it comes up with :)

This website has some leads which look suitable for what you need :)
I got my long lead from the pet shop on Crookes- it's strong enough to cope with an overexuberant German Shepherd.

Yeah, lunging reins are great and if you just google them you can find places that sell a nice 8 - 9m long webbing rein for about a tenner. V strong and fairly soft on the hands too!
Like here for example http://www.barnstormers.co.uk/acatalog/Lungeing_and_Schooling.html
It's been mentioned, but a lead or lunge line from a saddlers would do the job. Horse and Rider at Crookes, or the equestrian dept at Decathlon.
These (http://www.underfivepounds.com/store/house-and-home/reflective-dog-lead) are really sturdy and are longer than 1 metre - I have a black one!!

i have allways made my own leads collars etc
We've just bought a 50' lead for our labradoodle from here:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Donnaleighsaddlery. £9.90 inc p&p with a big choice of colours.
We've just come back from a 1-1 training weekend with Debbie from the first series of Dog Borstal. Highly recommended, we learnt a great deal about dog behaviour, and our pooch behaves like a different dog!
