Dozzz 16-01-2005, 12:13 yea those programmes wer the thing that inspired me into doin it, thanks for the good luck Rich 16-01-2005, 12:50 Excuse my ignorance but WTF is Parkour when it's at home? carcrash 16-01-2005, 12:57 Been doing it for 30 years. bellis 16-01-2005, 13:09 i think its something to do with running welll thats what it said on google anyway:loopy:   fnkysknky 16-01-2005, 14:03 Did it regular as a kid although it didn't have a name then, was known as 'playing out' lol. fox20thc 16-01-2005, 14:24 stop being so secretive, what is Parkour? (I know Im thick just answer the question) fnkysknky 16-01-2005, 15:09 Do a search on google or go to www.parkour.com It's otherwise known as free running and is basically the 'art' of movement - getting from one place to another in whatever way you can - running, jumping, , vaulting, rolling etc. Turns urban areas into a big playground :) Ok so probably not the best explanation but I'm sure you get the point. fox20thc 16-01-2005, 15:22 I get you now. Like those crazy peeps who ran across london without touching the ground! :hihi: BoroughGal 16-01-2005, 15:26 or..... it's them blokes what jump from one building to another....! Plain Talker 16-01-2005, 15:26 Riiiight! I see now! we used to do something very similar in PE, it was called "pirates", and you weren't permitted to tough the Gym floor, you had to swing on ropes and things to get from piece to piece of the apparatus. there was a program on a week or two ago called jump London or something, which followed a large-scale version f that. PT fnkysknky 16-01-2005, 16:00 Did you go to Hemsworh school by any chance PT - I can remember playing that and loved it, lol. Dozzz 16-01-2005, 16:12 Right, lots of people are wondering what Parkour is so ill tell ya. Parkour was invented in france about 16 years ago and in french it means the art of movement, in england we mostly call it free-running. so basically its from gettin to A to B, if u wanderin what im on about it basically means from one place (a) to another (b) by jumpin, flippin or maybe even spinnin. Dozzz 16-01-2005, 18:39 I use to play pirates at school aswell it was my favourite thing in PE Plain Talker 16-01-2005, 20:00 Originally posted by fnkysknky Did you go to Hemsworh school by any chance PT - I can remember playing that and loved it, lol. Yes Fnky, I went to Hemsworth School, but, judging by your age in your profile, I was there a long time before you were. I don't think the game of pirates was unique to Hemsworth school, because we played it at the other junior school I went to, and at both the secondary schools I went to. It semed to be mostly an "end-of-term" thing, that the teachers would let us play, as a special treat. It wasn't the organised P.E. class that we would usually have. PT Classic Rock 17-01-2005, 10:25 I played pirates at school too, that was in Scotland! Used to do this sort of thing in the playground, when I had energy and flexiblility! Scratch22 17-01-2005, 12:50 Would definitely be interested in coming to the meet, me and a mate at Sheffield Uni have been interested and been trying it, nothing serious, for a little while now. Could you give us a bit more info. cheers Dozzz 17-01-2005, 17:10 well basically its just a meeting of loads of free runners around rotheram, dronfield, sheffield and Barnsley n ne1 who is interested can come. ther will b no teachin tho.
