View Full Version : 30 Year Old in Fall From Upperthorpe Flats?
Anyone know anything?
Just seen the news and it says two are being questioned in relation to someone falling from the fourth floor of some flats in Upperthorpe...
Hope it's not related to the death of that poor little girl at the pub over the weekend !
:(
In Uppers 03-10-2007, 07:30 No, fortunately it's not at all related.

I reported a minor incident at 7pm last night on the 101 number. When the police officer called to see us, he said that they were stretched as to resources because there had been a 'suspected murder' on Martin Street.

NOT WISHING TO OFFEND OR DISTRESS BUT...........
I have just read a thread about rough areas it seems that there are a lot of publicised crimes in this area at the moment.

It is awful that three such events should have happened in a short space of time in a small community. My heart goes out to all the relatives and friends. I begin to wonder what the world is coming to.
Mrs Hyde 03-10-2007, 15:56 My dad was born and bred in Upperthorpe, anyone that lived there will know somewhere called the "big yard" everyone one was community minded, without sounding soft, like one big family, i went with my dad to my grandmas when i was about 5/6 yr old, ive lovely memories of this area, he used to go in the "Scarborough" arms every Sunday while my grandma cooked lovely big Yorkshire puds at the side of the fire in a big black range, oh happy days. What a shame its like this today
In Uppers 04-10-2007, 07:50 Ha Ha, this is unreal. I know it's your screen name but my great grandma was actually called Mrs Hyde. Spooky

Oeeer, spooky :suspect::suspect:
pippadoll 07-10-2007, 15:48 It is all very odd; there haven't been many major incidents over the last few years; but these three in one week is bizarre and tragic for family and friends of the deceased. The last I remember was the murder in Walkley, which was linked to drugs.
Don't condemn a whole community based on these incidents. We know there are problems in some areas, but this will make up the minority of people in the area.
pippadoll 07-10-2007, 18:27 Gosh Martin Street is really facing problems. A crack house was closed down last week. Won't make any connections. Hope you are not on Martin Street - In uppers.
In Uppers 09-10-2007, 07:42 No pippadoll, funnilly enough I moved from Martin Street a year ago, but I'm still just around the corner.
Thanks for the comment on not condeming a whole community. I totally agree with you. There's plenty of great people around Upperthorpe, it just seems that last weeks news makes us all look bad.
Never mind, by now i'm sure it'll be chip paper. :)
