Scottish RU full-back and British Lion - Bruce Hay - has died from a brain tumour aged 57.

Tragically early. I don't remember seeing him play live, but I've read about him. Have a good sleep lad.

He was unlucky in that he was on the scene at the same time as Andy Irvine - who was brilliant in every respect - and thus played many games on the wing, rather than a more natural full-back. He didn't have the pace for a winger and Hay knew it but did his best and accumulated a fair number of caps.
I remember listening to the tests from the 1977 Lions tour on the radio. Because they were in the early hours the games were preceeded with lots of interviews with the players, their music requests etc (the games were on radio 2, no radio 5 in those days). Hay featured prominently.
