Surprised this hasn't been on the telly.
Really nice guy - always smiling & enjoys what he does

Further down in the article - he says he wants to run 2:03...

To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if Haile is the first to break two hours, somewhere down the line. He's quite capable of doing the same sort of damage to the marathon record, that he did to the old 10,000 metres one.

He really looked fresh as a daisy when he finished- like he'd been for a stroll in the park!

I know that when it comes to a marathon it's all down to pacing yourself so that you have enough left to get over the line, but judging by that he's got significant room for going faster so I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ran under 2 hours in the future.

Some people's abilities are amazing aren't they?

Let's be frank; when a world record is smashed these days it has little to do with the person's ability......

Good arrows Basil - most of Gebrselassie's previous world records were beaten by Kenenisa Bekele. On January 4, 2005, Bekele's fiancee, 18-year-old Alem Techale, died of an apparent heart attack while on a training run with him. Although it was initially stated that no autopsy was performed, Techale and Bekele's manager, Jos Hermens, later said that an autopsy had revealed nothing conclusive about the young woman's death

When Gebrselassie got home this week after breaking the marathon record he found that his dog had died of a heart attack. Coincidence? The dog in question had recently broken the canine 10 mile record. 2 coincidences. The dog had previously denied all allegations of drug taking. To much to believe.

I thought there were no world records in marathon running only "best times"because all the routes are different?
