All the colours have gone funny on my laptop screen. What should I do?

First thing to try is reinstall the video card drivers check for viruses if that doesn't help then im afraid you will have to take it somewhere to be repaired. :(

More info required.. If its gone funny but twisting it makes it work again it might just be the cable. what make is it? Not a Toshiba is it?

Its a samsung. The colurs are all wrongbut when you press the screen or hold it at a certain angle they come back to normal.

LCD harness may have just come loose. take the cover of the screen, unscrew the screen and check the cable is not loose. if you switch it on when dismantled so you can see if it's still doing it then watch out for the small circuit board that powers the screen as it can give you a kick!
Depending on the problem you might find sticking some cardboard or something between the screen and the case will apply enough pressure to stop the connection problem.
might also be an internal problem with the screen, if it is your doomed!! or 400quid worse off depending on how rich you are.

Hi Scross,

This is a known fault on a lot of Samsung laptops; I bought two just over a year ago, and both screens failed.

Is it the V25 model you have?

If it's still under warranty, call Samsung C/S and advise them it is a known fault. They didn't charge me for either of mine.

Good luck

K.

Good point from Kristian, it might be under warranty! If it's not though I would not send it to then as they are almost certain to say it's your fault!

If it isn't under warranty and beyond economical repair you can still use it by plugging a normal monitor in the back. It won't be portable of course but it may help.
Forgive me if you're aware of this already.

I had a screen problem with my first laptop, a Toshiba - is this a problem with a lot of Toshiba's? I'm now the proud owner of a HP that's never gone wrong once (touch wood). I'd recommend HP laptops to anyone.
