Nothing interesting i'm afraid -
just wanted to say what a good night the leadmill gave me last saturday, and how great that place is. Don't you agree?
I was the shorter of the two boys doing some rather girly dancing by the dj booth to the quality gee-tar tunes in the second room!

Afraid not, its getting like any other club in Sheffield.. Boring and Repetative
well i hadn't been out in sheffield in ages so i liked it.
To be honest, where would the variation come from? At least they play new music aswell as old - the same cannot be said for Flares, the official "lets play rasputin by boneyM again" club.

Hence repetative mate :)
Same tunes played virtually same time every week, you get that wherever you go these days which is why Sheffield clubs are predictable and boring :shakes:
I know, i was offering up flares as a classic example, but i meant that i thougt the leadmill played classics - yes - but new songs aswell, and as for 'chillin' out in the small room with the bar, they always have some crazy dj in there playing something a bit 'alternative'.

Guys no offence meant cos I agree most clubs in Sheffield are v. repetitive with their music but using Flares as an example is just thick. It's a 70's bar so what genre of music are you expecting?? Surprisingly enough they play 70's music! I know the DJ and he basically just plays requests, i.e. what the people in Flares want to hear, so get off Flares when there are fools like Lee Smith puttin out wat he does!

Any DJ will tell you the same. Retro nights only have a certain catalogue of music available, and the only way to make these hights work is to give the majority of the crowd what they want. If this means the same tracks every week, that is the way it has to be else the people walk!!!
When I was 80s DJ at the leadmill in the 90s you had to stick with the majority formula.....try playing any more tasteful or slightly obscure stuff and you clear the dancefloor, not good for keeping your job! The crowd gets what the crowd wants, a rule appliying to ANY nightclub that is going to make any money....yes predictable without exception, most clubs you CAN predict the next 5 songs with amazing accuracy if you have been going for a few weeks, but so what? Its the atmopshere and vibe that the Managers know attract the punters, so if its non stop Boney M.....so be it.
Have you guys ever been out in any other town rather than sheffield??? Cos its exacly the same in every city and every town up and down the country - same songs week in- week out!!!

Exactly, you start getting a bit fed up of any place if you go there a lot. I'm in that position in newcastle at the minute.
