We are moving soon (touchwood) I have managed to secure a school place for the youngest, but the eldest's years are full at Tapton the Catchment school and the nearest thereafter is also full. Admissions have advised me to appeal for a place and in the mean time he will have to travel from the Lodge moor area to Myers grove.
I have been informed that if he is traveling over three miles he can have a free bus pass, is the mesurement taken as the crow flys so to speak? or the route he will actually travel.
If it is as the crow flys how far is it between Lodge moor and Stannington?
I know there are probably some parents who have been through this process allready, I would really welcome other peoples experience of this system

Try putting the route into here (http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/planner_main.jsp) and it should tell you how many miles it is.

Its as the crow flies - which is tough - because all the buses travel into town and then out again. There are other schools nearer lodge moor than Myers Grove- King Edwards, silverdale, High Storrs. Since their is no CofE High School, I think that you do not necessarily have to be Catholic for Notre Dame which is opposite Tapton (vaguely) and similarly with All Saints but you might need to apply separately. If you drive, King Ecberts at Dore is also reachable.

King Edwards is also full The admissions people said the best bet is to leave him where he is and appeal for a place at Tapton, Although I may look into silverdale. Thanks :)
