LFCMadPaul 28-09-2007, 08:58 Best atmosphere in Europe:
Suprised me a little seeing as we pull in about 30'000 less supporters than alot of the other top teams around England and Europe. Hey, it makes you wonder though; How loud are we going be when the new stadium is ready? Click here and you will see what i'm talking about!

Guderian 28-09-2007, 10:07 I would be happier being an Arsenal fan, seeing as they come out tops for pies.

i know last season portsmouth were voted best fans with the blades in second :D
AtticusFinch 28-09-2007, 11:35 On a European night or other big matches Anfield can be a magical place. As Rafa said when he first arrived, "it smells of football".
There's a current campaign on at Anfield called "Reclaim the Kop" (www.reclaimthekop.co.uk), which was behind the "Truth Day" protest at the Arsenal FA cup 3rd round home game last season. RTK stands against what it sees as the Soccer AM homogenisation of football culture. This includes the seal-clapping "easy, easy", "you're not singing anymore", "who are ya", "stand up if you love the _____" etc.
There's also a related campaign called "Keep Flags Scouse" which is against the bland "St George's Cross with town name across" flags you see so much of at clubs like Chelsea.
:)

Portsmouth do make a lot of noise and when they get their new 60K docklands stadium they will be a lot louder. Celtic Park kicks out a fair noise as does Ibrox but it has less capacity. I was impressed by the atmosphere at Derby when they played Newcastle.
Livrpool do have a great home atmosphere but let themselves down when they travel abroad.
scottishdude 28-09-2007, 12:45 Just seen on Ceefax that since tickets went on sale they reckon 20K rangers fans will travel to Barcelona for the november CL game.
Now that's an atmosphere worth experiencing.

Do you mean with behaviour issues or just volume of fans?
If it's the latter then your a little off the mark mate. If i am not mistaken, Liverpool hold the record for the amount of fans that travelled to a European match and our following abroad is always top notch.

I know it's the final of the CL, but that support was amazing. Off the top of my head i think about 50'000 Liverpool fans turned up in Turkey, although obviously not all got in the stadium. It picked the players up at half time when they must have been absolutely gutted (both fans and players) and i myself (not saying it hasn't happened) have never seen anything in football quite like it!

Pretty sure he means behaviour issues, and frankly it's odds-on that most of the people who commit general thuggery in the vicinity of a Liverpool away game in Europe, have never set foot inside Anfield. It's just a good excuse to go abroad and get some knifing and window-smashing done.

That's so true Heyesey!!
It's a shame that people, Cities etc all get tarnished with the same brush.
