Is this place a pub or is a bar in a student halls of residence? Ive been told that you can't get in unless you live in the halls or you're in the NUS?

Anyone know???

never heard of it.....must be a student hall bar...I think they all have silly names to make the big gloomy rooms look a bit appealing. I went to the one in Ranmoor Hall of residence last september and it was a real shed. Cant remember what they called it though.

I used to live in the student residents above the turo tavern. When I lived their 3 years ago it was portrayed as a student bar and meeting place but it just seemed to be a small (and not very good) pub.

It had lots of private functions and was hired out for birthdays and stuff, therefore I believe anyone could go and as the security from the “on site staff” was almost none existent theirs no one to stop you!!

Not sure what the attraction is personally I never thought much of it! It would look busy with 10 people! (It might have changed in 3yrs mind!)

The discussion came up again the other day...is this a place you can get in to without being a student. Would you count it as a pub/ bar??

I think it was shut down 2 years ago. It was offered to the student union at Hallam to run who didn't want it so it closed.

So it's shut for good then?
