RPG 20-02-2003, 20:01 well manchester is a 30/40min car journey away, london is a good 2-3 hours Floridablade 10-05-2007, 03:36 Robinhood airport has just opened but I don't know where the 'planes fly to. ricky36 10-05-2007, 08:33 manchester is the one you want alternageek 11-05-2007, 09:53 Manchester will be your best bet. Its pretty easy to get there by train as well. simonj 11-05-2007, 21:51 well manchester is a 30/40min car journey away, london is a good 2-3 hours That's a little optimistic unless you're heading for west Sheffield, drive fast and get a clear run over Woodhead/Snake Pass. I would allow anything between an hour and a half and 2-3 hours depending on time of day. ricky36 11-05-2007, 21:55 if you look at the posters location (escafeld) it is in fact quite possible to do it in less than a hour most days of the week except at peak times Lemony 22-05-2007, 10:53 Definitely Manchester. There's a frequent direct train service to Sheffield from there and it's smaller and closer than London. The train tickets from Manchester Airport are also cheaper than from London. Check out this link to the National Rail Enquiries to see timetables and fare prices. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ Also, if you're planning to use the train a lot whilst you're in the UK and you happen to be a student with a valid Student Card, bring it with you and a passport sized photo so you can get a Student Railcard. This will cost a little at first but you can get 1/3 off the price of every ticket you buy. You can always get this card at any time provided you're a student or under 26 (I think!) |
