View Full Version : Acoustic musicians wanted
I'm looking for anyone between 19 and 26 who's interested in starting a folky acoustic type band along the lines of Monkey Swallows The Universe, the Waifs etc. I play guitar and I'm looking for a female singer/s, 2nd guitarist, percussionist, violinist and flutist.
Enthusiasm, commitment and good sense of humour are essential!
Cheers
Luke.
Chris_Sleeps 28-09-2007, 13:18 Hey, i'm currently looking for some people to play with. I can play guitar, piano, and i've bought a banjo this summer so that could be something we could use.
I'm a 25 year old music student in my final year and i also teach music, so i don't have tons of time spare, but what i do have i'd be committed to. I could do 1 practice a week, 2 if really neccesary, and gigs sporadically. I'm looking for something fun and flexible, not something i'm tied to all the time. If you are still interested get in touch.
Hi, ye i play guitar and piano too, but neither amazingly well. The banjo would be good..
Anyway, well it's just me at the moment and this would be something of a side project so i would want it to be fun and flexible anyway. I'm not sure where it's going to go as yet as I can't write songs but that can be worked on later, but it'll be kinda upbeat "poppy folk" with violin and flute etc hopefully. Practicing once a week would be fine, although i have to work weekends, but I'm free most evenings.
If you want to arrange something let me know... Cheers
Why the age limit? :) I play flute and I'm slowly learning the violin, but I'm 27 :(
Hi Becky B, there's no particular reason for the age thing, it's just i'm 24 and it's a few years either way. It isn't a limit as such. Are you interested??
Hiya, are you still looking for people? I play violin and I'm 23. (Also like singing as well, though I'm not trained in that so for all I know I could be awful at it, haha! But I have Grade 8 in violin so can do that!). Let me know anyway : )
Hello, are you still looking for musicians? I'm 25, live in Sheff and play the Cello. Looking to get involved in a group similar to Monkey Swallows the Universe, 'poppy folk' sounds perfect. I used to play to a decent standard with grade 8 several years ago but had a bit of a lull recently, keen to get back to it though.
Have you got things going and got any music, let me know if you'd be interested in having a cello join in.
Cheers

Hi, thanks for your reply. I've managed to find a singer and we've been working on a few covers for the time being. However, things are on hold at the moment as we are having difficulty finding the time to practise, but i'll let you know if it progresses any time soon. A cello would fit in nicely. Cheers, Luke
Great to hear the cello would fit in. It's a shame that there's not more hours in the day!!! I'm dead busy at the moment anyway as I'm getting married in 3 weeks!!! I'll get practicing ready for when things get going again. Cheers for the reply.
'lo Luke,
I've been musically limp for too long and need to get back into something, and this right here sounds like the very thing I would wholeheartedly enjoy :)
I'm a singer, 28 (but look early 20s I hear).
PM me if you are still looking and I'll tell you a bit more about my background, experience and influences.
