View Full Version : Busted: Done and dusted jackthedog 14-01-2005, 12:11 Thank heavens for that. bellis 14-01-2005, 12:14 another talentless band hits the dust i wish a few more of them will follow suit:) :) :) Geoff 14-01-2005, 12:15 Does any band (no matter whether good or not) survive more than a few years these days? Madness :hihi: jackthedog 14-01-2005, 12:17 Originally posted by panda79 i wish a few more of them will follow suit:) :) :) I'm sure they will. Who wants to bet that McFly will soon McFlee? :D bellis 14-01-2005, 12:19 Originally posted by Geoff Does any band (no matter whether good or not) survive more than a few years these days? Madness :hihi: to be honest i think its the teeny bopper bands what have the shortest shelf life a good band will last longer than a few years jackthedog 14-01-2005, 12:24 On the subject of McFly, I think it would be quite cool if they did a cover of the Huey Lewis "Back in Time" tune that was on the Back to the Future soundtrack. It would probably go down quite well, considering the name! boyface 14-01-2005, 12:28 A, but, Charlie's other band, Fightstar (which are proper "grown up" Gee-tar music) are playing Sheffield 2 weeks today. Gimme a break... famous person in **** band,.....keanue reeves and dogstar anyone? I did love watching America or Busted, it was hilarious. They really didnt see themselves as a manufactured pop band. Priceless. nez75 14-01-2005, 12:30 The reason most bands don't last more than a few years these days is the fact that they want fame and money right now. They don't want to work for it by touring the clubs or smaller venues to build a fanbase like bands used to. boyface 14-01-2005, 12:39 Sorry like, but thats just rubbish. Loads of bands tour and play smaller venues and are around a long time. Many actively avoid the huge corporate pushing lables and marketing men. This kind of band wont come and bite you in the ass tho', you have to look for it. You're coming from the commercial chart fodder perspective of it. And more to the point its the labels that want money now, once it starts fading, bang, they're dropped. No disrespect like. Lou 14-01-2005, 13:11 Originally posted by jackthedog I'm sure they will. Who wants to bet that McFly will soon McFlee? :D Hooray, Busted gone! McFly to go I hope! :D Lickable 14-01-2005, 13:31 And only 995 years before they could mean they 'have been to the year 3000'. Thank god its over! Swan_Vesta 14-01-2005, 14:19 Just when I thought Friday couldn't get any better, I saw this thread. However, I can hear a void being filled by talentless, grinning, inane mime artists. Good riddance to the ten thumbed, tone deaf, noise polluters. D2J 14-01-2005, 15:53 One down but so many more to go.. Its news like this and alcohol that really make Fridays worth the wait :D Ousetunes 14-01-2005, 16:30 Total Guitar magazine tried to interview them, basically to see if they could actually play guitars. The interview was done over the telephone and as the questions became more technical a voice could be heard in the background telling Mr Eyebrows what to say. Infact, they were so good at answering the questions (probably what gear do they use, who their guitar heroes were, what scales do they use - pentatonic, blues scale, mixolydian, dorian, etc) that they ended up putting the phone down! Muppets. carcrash 14-01-2005, 17:33 I'm not a fan of tory supporting public school boys but these kids could play their guitars and could sing. They sold 3 million albums. From what i can gather the bloke who has caused the split has another band who gathering some good and credible press. He is 19 years old, a millionaire and wants move on, good luck to him http://www.fightstarmusic.com/broad.htm carsondaly 14-01-2005, 17:34 I, for one, this it's an awful shame. A band that played their own instruments, wrote their own songs and were one of the most successful british bands for ages, are no more. There were a seminal band in many respects and in a different league altogether from Westlife or the other manufactured boy bands. (note: busted formed themselves). I shall be having a Busted funeral party later to show my respect. I'm also wearing black today. It is indeed a sad day. Lestat 14-01-2005, 17:43 Originally posted by carsondaly I shall be having a Busted funeral party later to show my respect. I'm also wearing black today. It is indeed a sad day. And then afterwards are you gonna party, harty like you just don't care!!! Angel05 14-01-2005, 17:55 I cant stand these fly by night boy bands... If only bands such as Backstreet Boys / Five & Boyzone had lasted a bit longer... i think they could have matured into great bands... The last one left now really is Westlife... not keen on their new music... getting too old before their time i feel :( Twiglet 14-01-2005, 20:07 I really loved Busted. Don't tell me I'm really sad I already know I hear it every day from my little sister. BUT..... what makes it all better is that Charlie is in Fightstar and they are playing at the extremely local Corporation. But I have one small question.... anyone know how to get tickets please? xafier 14-01-2005, 20:45 I am such a happy man, busted have split up! its about time thats all I can say! http://uk.news.yahoo.com/050114/325/faap9.html That band has done nothing for the rock community, bringing millions of the little teen buggers into thinking they listen to cool music along with The Darkness :? making the prices of guitars crank up due to so many little brats wanting to learn to play like their "idols" anyways, all i can say is I'm a happy man now, maybe the price of that Epiphone SG400 gothic will go down in price now that that stupid monobrow Busted guy isn't playing it on stage anymore :D I was so annoyed how its price soared when they came on the scene and pushed me into buying a different guitar... although I do love my Ibanez so very much! D2J 14-01-2005, 20:51 At the bottom of the article there was this ' What am I going to do?" asked one. "My life is over -- I have just had my new Golf (car) sprayed with the Busted logo as well. Hugs to all who are suffering. ' :loopy: :shakes: Rich 14-01-2005, 20:54 Originally posted by Deejay At the bottom of the article there was this ' What am I going to do?" asked one. Maybe you could have his Epiphone SG400. Afterall, it's never even been plugged in. Or IMHO, save your bucks and buy a Gibson. The electronics in Epiphones are poor (wiring between pick-ups, selector and knobs is where they compromise - hence they're a load cheaper than The Real Thing). I know this as I own both and believe me, the Gibson is the works. Susie xx carcrash 15-01-2005, 15:30 Xafier as a guitar player myself I find your comments a bit odd. Surely you would rather see kids playing guitars and taking an intrest in rock music than turning into DJ's. mel8592 21-01-2005, 14:52 i still cant belive that busted have split i think people r unfair to say they r crap as they rite all thier own songs and r brill at what they do. also will any1 be supporting fightstar (charlies new band) i dont now whether or not i will because that was the reason that busted split . some fans r being very cruel bout this and r targeting charlie at his gigs. They were! :shakes: :loopy: Swan_Vesta 21-01-2005, 16:19 Originally posted by mel8592 i still cant belive that busted have split i think people r unfair to say they r crap Busted aren't crap! They were highly successful at being annoyingly bland, vacuous and untalented. It's the bouncy, tuneless cacophony they managed to sell to the masses that masqueraded as music that was crap. jinxieminx 24-01-2005, 11:28 well being one of busteds biggest fans i couldnt believe it when charlie decided to leave i respect all your opinions but only when you say you dont like there music i dont think just because there music doesnt appeal to you that you have the right to brand them as crap there music is far from crap its lively funny great to listen to and just because you have only heard songs they released doesnt mean they havent done some brilliant meaningfull ones LukeD 04-02-2009, 00:42 Maybe you could have his Epiphone SG400. Good enough for Noel Gallagher et al... skipskap 05-02-2009, 11:40 Interesting that this thread has popped up 4 years later. Especially as 4 years later McFly are still doing OK despite the doom merchants back then. LukeD 05-02-2009, 13:11 Haha, yeah. I was just sticking up for Epiphone. They've been around a hell of a lot longer than Gibson, since about 1890 I believe, and the early models were more than a match for any Gibson. McFly? They all have really annoying faces. All they have to do is keep their heads down and **** out an arena tour once a year. Easy the_rudeboy 05-02-2009, 13:32 McFly? They all have really annoying faces.
