I read Microwave are banned in Russia and they invented it.

Are they safe?

Is anything safe??? I use the mircowave rarely - but I did use it not only to heat my childrens babymilk but also to steam sterlise the bottles.

I use the microwave near enough everyday,probably got something to do with being a single bloke and not actually knowing how my cooker works!:o

We use it regulary, especially for soups etc when the hob is full. I don't think its any good for meats and jacket potatoes (they go all soft..) but it's not bad for defrosting etc.

Yikes :o, the baby milk option was meant to be a big no-no.

Doesn't the Manufacture leaflet that comes with it state do not heat baby milk with a microwave?

I may be wrong though.

Microwaves cook fish, shellfish and fresh vegetables to perfection, and almost instantly.

But you need one with a turntable and a reasonably large capacity to ensure even cooking

Raw prawns and chunks of trout cook in about 20 seconds, and are all lovely and firm and tender, bursting with flavour.

Be careful though as overcooking is very easy

My mistake, was banned in Russia and were developed during Word War II by the Germans.

Search for "russia banned microwave" in google and see why they were banned in 1976. I can't find the reasons to why they reintroduced.

I cant stand anything from a microwave anyway. Somehow it just doesnt taste as good. Even with ready meals i always use the oven because it just seems to cook it move thoroughly. Soup always has a disgusting film over it when you do it by microwave and it always comes out either too hot or not hot enough.

I think it does state not to heat the milk up in a microwave. Don't use it anymore so cannot check.

However you may like to note that the Oasis in Meadowhall had mircowaves on hand at every service point to heat up baby milk and food. Even gave instructions as to how long it should take for an average bottle.

I generally don't enjoy microwave food as much. So, I voted for I've got one but it's very rarely used.

I use one quite often AND REALLY DISLIKE how they MAKE STUFF SOGGY,ETC!!

They really arent worth it... Take the extra time and GET BETTER QUALITY!!

There's already a large thread where someone argues in the face of all current science that microwave ovens are bad for you.

Correct. There was a time in around 1970 when the USSR outlawed them. They are to be found in most Russian households these days.

I use mine for all my veg, I make an assortment, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, etc put them all in one casserole and cook them in the microwave. I rarely use saucepans anymore and it's so easy. I haven't noticed any difference in taste.
Very handy for defrosting too, I wouldn't be without mine.

i have a microwave & i do use it, mostly for convinience but i do prefer to cook things in the oven, on the hob or in a slow cooker.

Rarley use it, sometimes to cook baked beans if I cant be arsed to do them in a pan, but as for meats I usually marrinade them and bake them and I very much doubt you can get the same flavour from a microwave. As for fish I do the same and I doubt a microwave could do it the same!

Don't use them, never have, never will, the only time microwaved food passes my lips is when its from a takeaway, or cafe etc.
And that aint often as I'll always order food that don't usually get microwaved.

I bought one of those microwave beds.
you sleep in it for 8 minutes and you feel like you've slept for 8 hours.

Microwaves are great for when your in a rush or can't be bothered to cook.

I dont own one. That wasnt always the case, but since moving I decided to ditch the microwave and give traditional cooking a go. I much enjoy doing stuff on the hob or in the oven. Very rarely miss it to be honest.
