Think he's a good bloke really, done some good deeds not to mention some drugs! So what you think? apart from the stuff he did for the lion king soundtrack he hasant made a decent album for 30 years muddycoffee 22-09-2007, 22:27 His singing these days is apalling, similar to a vic reeves club singer. What he should do is work with Rick Rubin and then he would make something great. He remains an incredibly talented man, it just seems that he hasn't taken any good advice recently. One of the main problems is the sheer amount of money he made in the 1970s. Left him with a head that was too big. I was particularly impressed with this unexpected appearence on a SAXON heavy rock album in the mid 1980s. Shows he really can rock if he wants to. poppins 22-09-2007, 22:32 I can't stand looking at him, I remember him once bragging that he would have sex with a goat if given the chance...he makes me sick, talent, what talent ? begirl 22-09-2007, 22:39 love him. admire him. mikey10 22-09-2007, 22:44 I dont like him when he goes all camp. and drama queeny. but his early stuff was brill. cloudybay 22-09-2007, 22:46 Philadelphia freedom ............... muddycoffee 22-09-2007, 22:46 I'd like to know who the brown dirt cowboy was mikey10 22-09-2007, 22:47 Philadelphia freedom ............... daniel.......... cressida 22-09-2007, 22:51 I can't bear to look at him either, especially when he is in fancy dress, but he's ok to listen to bellis 22-09-2007, 22:56 His singing these days is apalling, similar to a vic reeves club singer. T/C muddycoffee 22-09-2007, 23:16 :o what saxon album was it hold on.. .. muddy goes up stairs to the dusty vinyl collection upstairs answer. Rock The Nations 1986 muddycoffee 22-09-2007, 23:28 When a self confessed drug addict who wastes hundreds of thousands of pounds on flowers gets awarded a knighthood for writing and performing a few songs to make himself rich then you should question the wisdom of things! T/C to be fair in the 1970s he sold millions of records on both sides of the atlantic as himself, after playing on a hundreds of anonymous sessions for many chart acts as well as pickwick top of the pops covers albums. The amount of tax he has paid to the british exchecker would probably have paid for the NHS for 6 months. And that is a great deal more than most Knights have ever done for us. Fudbeer 22-09-2007, 23:30 Awesome artist nearly all his stuff rocks! Commander 22-09-2007, 23:31 to be fair in the 1970s he sold millions of records on both sides of the atlantic as himself, after playing on a hundreds of anonymous sessions for many chart acts as well as pickwick top of the pops covers albums. Hmm, is he paying income tax in the United Kingdom or is his main residence in the States? In my opinion he is not a good example to the nation. T/C Rotherhamer 22-09-2007, 23:40 The most over rated performer in the history of music he only got made a dame because of that song Tarquin 22-09-2007, 23:42 Song for guy, great music:thumbsup: AJ sheffield 23-09-2007, 00:20 He is an absurd vile rotund little man...the William Shatner of pop  ColinJ 23-09-2007, 01:04 I've never been able to stand him. In 40 years of record/CD buying I've never felt the need to own a single one of his recordings, and for many years now he's been the worst kind of fat old queen. vhopkinson 23-09-2007, 03:03 Better be good, just paid $150 to see his concert at the Vineyards here. Rich 23-09-2007, 10:11 I think he's good. And no, he did not just get Knighted for the Diana funeral song, he's done loads of charity work and other stuff. discodown 23-09-2007, 10:38 He is an absurd vile rotund little man...the William Shatner of pop :rolleyes:I won't have that. William Shatner is superb! EdnaKrabappe 23-09-2007, 10:46 I like Elton... Too low for zero is a fantastic album and was the one where i jumped on board aged 13/14 - some excellent tracks on there - cold as Christmas, kiss the bride, I'm still standing, Guess that's why they call it the blues, Too low for zero. I then discovered the back catalogue. I danced last night in DQ to Saturday night (alright for fightin) and really enjoyed it. He is a complete mare and i imagine that his husband deserves a medal (or all his money) for putting up with his tantrums... do you remember the documentary where he was playing tennis and threw a right wobbler? But as far as a musician goes, I really like him. AJ sheffield 23-09-2007, 12:52 I won't have that. William Shatner is superb! Actually your right there, William Shatner is superb. It was an off the cuff remark and totally out of place considering I am a big Star Trek fan. Elton John reminds me of that useless bloke who runs the kebab shop in Corrie, the one who used to play Sinbad in Brookside. But obviously wearing a pink frock :a vomit emote: BorderReiver 23-09-2007, 13:01 He's on the box at the moment. What you think of him? Loved his early stuff, he was fantastic. Think he's a good bloke really, done some good deeds not to mention some drugs! So what you think? A bloated, self-opinionated, and drama queen :gag: Over-rated, mediocre song writer and musician :gag: Best song he ever wrote was [I]Rocket Man and Kate Bush's version was far better than his. As Jim Royle once said - quote "I bet David Furnish's candle has given him wind a few times" :hihi: Jess22 23-09-2007, 17:59 Thought he was brilliant. After this programme I have even more respect for him. He came across as a down to earth, extremley honest top geezer! I think he's great :D MuteWitness 24-09-2007, 10:20 I thought the programme was very good - I liked the bit where he had Rod Stewarts balloon shot down :hihi: NEKRO138 24-09-2007, 10:34 Great songs, but the man's a tool. BasilRathbon 24-09-2007, 11:10 Great songs, but the man's a tool. I'd say the opposite; seems an entertaining bloke but his music's dire. And he thinks there are 4 syllables in "Sacrifice".... NEKRO138 24-09-2007, 11:12 He doesn't entertain me in the slightest. In fact, when i consider the fact that most of the songs were co-written with Bernie Taupin, my opinion of him becomes even lower. MuteWitness 24-09-2007, 11:52 He doesn't entertain me in the slightest. In fact, when i consider the fact that most of the songs were co-written with Bernie Taupin, my opinion of him becomes even lower. Bernie wrote just about all the lyrics in Eltons career (well all the good lyrics) Bernie is the one who has talent Hecate 24-09-2007, 12:01 He's done some classic songs: 'Daniel', 'Your Song', 'I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues'... even the non-bastardized version of 'Candle in the Wind'. As for the man himself: a squat little egocentric prima donna. StarSparkle 24-09-2007, 12:15 A sad has-been, whose diva-like strops are just pathetic. A person whose self-indulgence knows no bounds. A person who has no understanding of the word 'taste'. A person who appears to have little personal shame, who spends obscene amounts of money on his own personal pleasure and self-aggrandisement. Someone who really needs to get over himself. StarSparkle pk014b7161 24-09-2007, 15:27 i like to hear him Kthebean 24-09-2007, 15:35 I dont know the man personally like, but I do enjoy some of his songs. Guess thats why they call it the blues is my fave. Shazbat 25-09-2007, 11:38 His early stuff is fab and his treble Greatest Hits CD sounded great in the car the other week. I like all his singles pretty much up to "I Want Love" but that's mostly down to Robert Downey Jnr being in the video :hihi: Unfortunately his voice has gone now. Treatment 26-09-2007, 11:35 If that's your idea of a lonely hearts ad I can't see you getting many replies. Except from Taiwan. slimsid2000 26-09-2007, 14:08 He's on the box at the moment. What you think of him? Loved his early stuff, he was fantastic. Think he's a good bloke really, done some good deeds not to mention some drugs! So what you think? A lot of talent and done some good songs (especially in early 70s) but a real drama queen. dennistowler 26-09-2007, 15:27 At the moment there is controversy over some art that he owns. It has been removed by police after complaints that it constituted child pornography Here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/7013806.stm) poppins 26-09-2007, 15:43 At the moment there is controversy over some art that he owns. It has been removed by police after complaints that it constituted child pornography Here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/tyne/7013806.stm) I guess he's trying to get into prison, he'll have a good time in there. Treatment 26-09-2007, 15:45 I guess he's trying to get into prison, he'll have a good time in there. That's why Soap On A Rope was invented. Mathom 27-09-2007, 11:44 He had some classic songs in the 70s, really good stuff and I love Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, but then he turned cheesier than a rotting Gorgonzola in the 80s. His music has been kerrrap since then, schmalzy tripe. As a personality he turns me off completely - an ugly egotistical little man with no taste and an horrific syrup. That was harsh wasn't it? ;) balderdasher 27-09-2007, 23:28 1984 FA Cup Final Watford vs Everton Elton was still Watford chairman, and was at Wembley to watch the match Final score ..Everton 2 Watford 0 End of match, a massive banner sprung up from a set of Everton fans, read .. " IM SORRY ELTON, I GUESS THAT'S WHY THEY CALL US THE BLUES " Class Glennis 28-09-2007, 15:21 Seems people either love him, or hate him. I personally hate him Ray Bentos 30-09-2007, 10:00 One of the main problems is the sheer amount of money he made in the 1970s. Left him with a head that was too big. Like Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting or The Bitch Is Back shows he can't rock ???????? Muddy, Bernie Taupin was the Brown Dirt Cowboy |
