Can anyone tell me what the doctors are like in Stannington? I am moving to Stannington shortly (just off wood Lane) and I am going to need to change Doctors. The doctors I am with at moment, I have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment, I am disabled so need to see doctor quite often. can any one recomend a good one.

i have lived in stannington for years now and have never had to wait more than a day for an appoinment, its normally ring in a morning and pretty much get on for that tea time. im at stannington medical centre in the village but on the leadingham and stephanson side. they are really good.

Dr Ledingham's on long term sick leave at the moment, and may or may not come back ever, poor bloke had a break down a while back.

Shame, he's been our family Doctor for years, nice bloke.

Trying to get an appointment with Dr Stephenson's like pulling teeth though, she's popular with the old dears cos she's so good and nice you see, so she's tied up seeing to them.

I'll agree with Dr s being ace,

my Bestie's with that practice, and she's done better for her than any number of previous doctors

Yes - Dr Jenny Stephenson is WONDERFUL - a really caring, hard-working doctor who does the best for her patients.

The doctors on Uppergate Rd are excellent, however, if you are moving onto Wood Lane or nearby you may have to register at the surgery near the high rise flats on Stannington Rd

Yeah, IMO the Deer Park Surgery isn't as good.

You are also in the catchment area for Tramways Medical Centre on Holme Lane......and I can't fault any of the Doctors there.....its a well run, well efficient practice that I believe is not fund holding which means that they are not watching the pennies as much when it comes to patient care....

I have friends who were patients of Dr Shermer and Dr Bird at Stannington Medical Centre.....they have since moved to different Doctors because they didn't rate either of them.
