What's the nearest national express stop to St Pancras rail station ? I tried their site but it's unclear just where London central is in relation to St Pancras.

View Full Version : National Express to London rob123 19-09-2007, 12:38 What's the nearest national express stop to St Pancras rail station ? I tried their site but it's unclear just where London central is in relation to St Pancras. Code13 19-09-2007, 12:41 It is a few years since I have been down but the National Express used to stop at Marble Arch and then Victoria. In either case St Pancreas is right beside Kings Cross tube station, so if you get off the bus it is a short ride on the tube. nick2 19-09-2007, 12:41 They stop at Victoria Station, which is about 20 minutes from St Pancras on the tube. Did you know that St Pancreas is one of only two London stations to be named after an internal organ? The other, of course, is Liverpool Street. Hopman 19-09-2007, 13:01 Did you know that St Pancreas is one of only two London stations to be named after an internal organ? The other, of course, is Liverpool Street. I couldn't fina any tube stations named after parts of the body other than Temple. (sorry about the poor spelling, I'm on a tube journey from Arsenal to Cockfosters) nick2 19-09-2007, 13:02 Did you know that St Pancreas is one of only two London stations to be named after an internal organ? The other, of course, is Liverpool Street. what about Arsenal ? theome 19-09-2007, 13:02 They also stop at Golders Green tube station , if the traffic is terrible ,its 14 mins on the tube from there to Euston and a 10 minute walk to St.Pancras. Victoria is about 3 miles from St Pancras rob123 19-09-2007, 13:28 Thanks for that. 367squadron 19-09-2007, 13:59 Why don't you just go on the train? You can get singles for £9 or sometime £6. It's faster and could work out cheaper than National Express unless you have £1 'fun tickets'. nick2 19-09-2007, 14:02 You can get singles for £9 or sometime £6. How, I've never been able to get one, unless I book for next year. rob123 19-09-2007, 14:09 How, I've never been able to get one, unless I book for next year. Same here. Plus you can't book further than 12 weeks in advance, and that doesn't even take into account the demise, before I travel, of midland mainline. andco 19-09-2007, 14:15 How, I've never been able to get one, unless I book for next year. Just dont go at peak periods ie Bank Hols etc. pushtotalk 19-09-2007, 14:30 Same here. Plus you can't book further than 12 weeks in advance, and that doesn't even take into account the demise, before I travel, of midland mainline. Just for the record, advance purchase tickets are available for both Midland Manline and East Midlands Trains (those that would have been Midland Mainline) for travel until about 9th December now, with the exception of some weekends in Oct/Nov. East Midlands Trains tickets are currently identical in price and conditions to Midland Mainline ones. Still do and is the nearest stop - but this is only on the services into London and also with hand luggage only. Other than that it is Victoria. Connections from both stops is the route 73 bus (a single fare for the bus is £2.00 where that for the tube is £4.00) - normally a bendy bus out of Victoria bus station (outside the train station) towards Seven Sisters. CheekyBandit 19-09-2007, 14:57 How, I've never been able to get one, unless I book for next year. I have managed to get one of those £7.00 singles about three weeks in advance. You might get a GNER cheap single from donny with shorter notice - I got one with less than a week in advance. 367squadron 19-09-2007, 15:03 How, I've never been able to get one, unless I book for next year. Well just as an example i'm going to see Dirty Dancing in London on the 16th October. We've booked the 10:27 train gets in about 13:00 and coming back the next day at around 13:30. Cost us £16 which is just over what you pay to get to and Manchester Airport. I use trainline.com. Admittedly the times aren't brilliant but if you want cheap tickets you have to go at an off peak time. Good Luck. slimsid2000 19-09-2007, 15:14 I went with National Express last year for $9 return but had to book at least a month in advance (which was no problem). Now they seem to have stopped such big discounts for this and only give them for on-line bookings (Fun Fares). Yes Golders Green is probably the best stop for North London. It stops at the bus station (next to the tube station). It is also near a place called The Jewish Vegitarian Society. I keep meaning to pop in there for a bacon sandwhich. Mmmmmm. |
