Hi,

I am almost 38 and 1/2 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I had my midwife appointment, and my baby is only one fifth engaged, the same as two weeks ago! I was so hoping I'd be told he was fully engaged and ready to go -

Also, she mentioned the baby is "a bit posterior", which filled me with dread, as I know a posterior presentation means a slower and painful labour. Aaaarggghhh! I supposse there is still time for the little one to change positions, but with all the walking, swimming, and going-to-work I'm doing, I'm surprised he hasn't moved yet!

Does this mean I will probably be overdue? And that labour will be hell? As for turning the baby, do you do the same as you would for a breech baby, i.e., watch telly on all fours, etc?

argh, that sounds disappointing, i'd be feeling the same as you...

I'd be on all fours as often as possible, it seems to be the answer to all problems!!!

many babys don't fully engage untill labour starts so don't worry to much .

As mrs gough says, some babies don't engage until the onset of labour and remember, anything can happen within the space of hours never mind days or weeks, so there's still time for it all to change! I mean if you go over (hopefully you won't!) you could have another 3 1/2 weeks left yet! Like someone else has suggested - get on all fours as often as you can! It also takes the pressure off your back no end!
