Is that where they're filming the new "Insect Gangsta" film - "Wasps In Da Hood"? torin8 18-09-2007, 15:28 You can either call the council pest control to get rid or if you are feeling brave enough then get some wasp killing powder / foam to kill them. If you want to do it yourself it's worth leaving it til the temperature has dropped - early morning / late at night. me-and-pippo 18-09-2007, 15:42 The wasps will be very active for the next two or three weeks, then as the Queen wasps hatch out and leve the nest all the others will start to die off. fox20thc 18-09-2007, 15:46 The council will charge about £15 to remove it. Nigel Womersle 18-09-2007, 16:12 The council will charge about £15 to remove it. They charged me £39.00 fox20thc 18-09-2007, 16:12 Well it was a few years ago last time I was infested with wasps. :hihi: Joe Totale 18-09-2007, 16:21 Two cans of rentokill wasp spray from the poundshop, spray up close (it starts to foam up), then watch those suckers drop (from a safe distance!!!!!) Re-spray next day, if necessary. Dangerous but cheap:D Onej 18-09-2007, 16:22 Ant powder from any hardware shop will usually kill the wasps. It should cost about £1.99 and once you manage to puff it around the entrance to the nest and on a few wasps going in it usually kills them all off as the ones entering take it into the nest. We have killed a couple of nests like this and they are usually all dead the next day. Good luck. We wore a crash helmet and gloves just in case when we were doing it. Dozy 18-09-2007, 16:34 The wasps will be very active for the next two or three weeks, then as the Queen wasps hatch out and leve the nest all the others will start to die off. Thank goodness for that! I've noticed in the last week or so that I've had a lot of dead wasps in my bathroom and in my kitchen (one is over t'other). I thought it very strange, because I've had wasps nests before and I've realised by the sudden increase in live wasps about the place. But this time I only seem to be getting dead ones! I had a look and saw the little beggars going into the roof space via a gap in the lead flashing. I've been trying to work my way up to clearing all the junk out of the way of the access hatch in the attic bedroom, so I could someone in to sort it out. If they're all going to die soon, I'll not bother! tarantino 18-09-2007, 19:22 they last longer than you think, we had a wasp nest in the kitchen roof when we moved into our house last October and by December they were still alive, when we had the roof replaced the builders chucked out the nest and there were still loads inside!! but their really dozy as they eat the over ripe fruit thats left from summer so their basically drunk they bump right into you! and when we had to replace one of the ceiling light in the kitchen we pulled it out and loads of dead wasps came falling out of the hole! it was like a horror film!!! PerfectAngel 18-09-2007, 19:59 I've got same thing in a hole in brick work at side of my front door. Told my landlord few months back and they aint done owt yet. I just got a can of wasp killer and sprayed the job lot in there!!!! Seems to have worked for now! chris101 18-09-2007, 20:08 council just charged us £45 to move ours. Thats what we did when we found one in our hedge anyway! dieselbabe 18-09-2007, 23:29 i had a nest 5 weeks ago. got the council out to sort it.only for loads to come into the living room. taken us 3 weeks to get rid of them. never been so scared in my life with the amount that came in every day. nationalist 19-09-2007, 01:07 fill the holes up with silicon they don't get in or out again blusky 19-09-2007, 08:15 We had the council out yesterday. It was £45. They turned up within 24 hours of the call and did it very quickly. It was a horror movie ouside our windows just after they did it but now no more wasps. I do not say this often - well done Sheffield Council. Up the Owls 19-09-2007, 13:40 If it's not too late try Allisons Bees & Wasps Control Service. Charges about £30. Used him loads of times - very good. 0114 2810399 purple_frog 19-09-2007, 13:53 Oh man, that'd be my nightmare situation! I have a silly fear of wasps, they leave me frozen rigid to the spot, whimpering like a pained dog - yet I'd never be able to get the evil wee ******* killed, so would end up being terrified in my own home, unable to use the door, and with windows firmly closed... ew ew ew! Makes me feel sick and panicky just thinking about it! cgksheff 19-09-2007, 17:29 £45? £30? £2.50? If you can get someone to show you how easy it is to use the powder yourself, you'll save a fortune. ladyacademic 19-09-2007, 17:55 Petrol + match = no more wasps :D:D Petrol on its own is fine - you don't need a match.
