Im thinking of starting and entering a 5 a side football team at goals in norfolk park.

I want to know if anyone fancys playing footy for a laugh.

I havent played in years but want to get back into playing.

Any abilities welcome. I think a lot of people on here want the chance to play football but are worried about joining existing teams etc.

if anyone is interested reply here and we could hire a court and have a kick about and see how many players we can get.

I'd be up for it but prefer Goodwins near the childrens hospital as harder for me to get to Goals.

Thats brilliant. yeah the team would be all about the enjoyment of the game but it is important that if u declare interest that u definatley are up for playing. As for the nights and location. We would have to see when the best night for everyone and which locations people prefer. Ive had an pm or 2 about it so there is a bit of interest already. So as i said if you are really interested then just say and we can all go about getting something organised.

ive got either nights or locations of others so if everyone else could confirm for sure.

From what i have so far, Monday-Wednesday nights are the most popular. Its about 50/50 split between goals and goodwins with most people having a preffered venue but can get to the other. Theres tram stops near both.

I take it everyone would be interested in joining a league. Basic requirements would be astros and shinpads for goals. and then a one off registation fee and weekly subs etc. We could start of with matching tops and bibs then as Reginald D said to me we could by matching shirts from a sport shop like decathalon or streetwise or sumthing.

This is looking good so far. Weve got a little squad coming together. Would be nice to get a few more names.

Stato 77, I've just rung Goodwins. They do also have leagues starting soon and advise registration asap. They have slots on Monday at 6.45, 7.30 or 8.15. Nothing on Wednesday. One slot on Thurs at 6.45. Cost=£25/match. Referee provided. 10 week league with semi + final for top teams. Squads up to 10 players.

It seems either way we should decide asap for eiter Goals or Goodwin and book a spot. number for Goodwin is 0114 2226955. Team name? well Stato77 I suppose although i think Ron Blanco FC has more of a ring to it :-)

Need everyones 100% commitment by tommorow really. i agree 7 players minimum full 10 if possible. We will do rolling subs to make sure everyone gets to play as much as possible. No ones going to be warming the bench! Good to have a specialist keeper. otherwise we will all have to wear the gloves at some point.

meanwhile I had just double-checked about Goodwins. The one I asked about is 5-a-side (not 6, and each games lasts 40-minutes). He's pencilled in Forum FC for both Monday 6.45 and 7.30 until we decide. No problem to cancel if necessary. Expects it to start in about 2 weeks.

I know it's been to-and-fro between Goodwin and Goals, but good thing is we seem to now have two guaranteed options.

In Goals favour - it is a definite for Monday (and I'm already getting psyched up) whereas Goodwin league won't start for a couple of weeks or so. Goals 4th division might also be a reasonable level for a group like us - not too serious.

just a thought, but final decision rests with statto!

I personally think Goodwin is a much better playing area. The pitches are nice and you can spread play out a bit better, rather than the ball flying in and out all the time.

Yep 7pm would be better for me gives me time to get home and back up to Goodwins. I play as a right winger for my Sunday side and last year I was a striker, o and I'm 19. Though I'm happy to hold back a bit or take central midfielder and try doing a Stevie G impression. Goodwins would be the better pitch and the idea of getting to know each other with a kick about is a good one.

regarding the league - I have rung to confirm Forum FC. It's now a case of waiting for them to get back when there are enough teams to start the league. He anticipates a couple of weeks but that is not definite. I think it's a really good idea to book our own game until the league starts.

hey up people, i got a call back from goodwins. they wanted the entire £25 payment over the phone. the problem is i dont get paid till next friday and there is only £16 in my bank account. they have the slot still available if anyone else can call?! sorry bout that people.

yep. will be there. Suggest we chip in £3 each so there is a bit of a cushion if more than 8 turn up. If 8 or less turn up we'll have to pay a bit more so you're not out of pocket.

Was good, Ronblanco, BenG, Statto, reginald and i think it was paintedwhite turned up my mate came, played between ourselves for an hour then some of us stayed and played with some other lads for an hour. it was good and im up for next week.

Yep really enjoyed it, I was knackered aftre a while though when we were playing those others guys. I think we can safely say the seven of us who turned enjoyed and will be there next week, just need another few more, c'mon people who wants to play for Forum FC??

I thought it was really good. I was quite surprised at my fitness levels, the gym has paid off!

As ReginaldD says, once we have played together a bit more I think we will be sorted. It was quite hard to get a rhythm going playing 4 on 3 but I think we did really well.

I think by the time the league starts we could be looking quite good.

We have got the first 7 names down for the league and the maximum is 10. And we have also got the same pitch booked next week.

We just have to do like we mentioned and come up with some nicknames. Also it would be a good idea to decide on a team colur then we can all get the same shirt from Decathlon for about £10. It would be a nice touch I think to get nicknames on the back or just use our forum names.

On the shirt issue maybe we should decide a team colour on here before next week then if paintedwhite doesn't mind getting them we can each decide which size we want. I think this sounds like a good idea, my personal preference would be adidas, I just prefer them to Nike. It would be good for us decide on a colout too, Stato do you have a link for the shirts you were looking at then we can have a look at designs. Then all come to some sort of decisions on what we want colour wise and all that rubbish.

From the kits I've looked at from the links I'd say these four are my favourites, especially the yeloow and black Nike kit. The bottom two Nike ones are £22 for the whole kit which I think is pretty good deal. Like we were saying last week it would be good if we all got a name and number on them. Just something else to throw in, the website where they do the Nike kits for £25 lets you have logo's on the shirt for £3 I'm not sure if anyone is bothered but maybe we could ask Geoff who runs the site if we could have the forum logo on the shirts as our badge?

Reginald D just need everyone to have a think about kit now. We will need one soon. I guess we will just have to wear bibs for the first week or two while we get ourselves organised.
