Sorry to anyone expecting a thought provoking topic but this isn't!

I HATE how they've butchered this tune - this is one of my all time fav tunes that came out in about 1990 or 1991 - was actually one of the only 'classics' that i don't have on vinyl - really annoys me on how they take such a great 'of the time' record and have to put lots of crap lyrics over it to make it more 'commercial' years later

they did this with Frankie knuckles 'your love' by putting Candy Staton over it

i really hate the commercialisation of music - that's why i packed up DJ'in in 1992

i will not now be able to enjoy the original half as much :(

I thought Gat decor was butchered also, but the first bootleg, then official release.

Most people I think disagree with me on this because it is massively popular.

I was talking to someone about it the other day and commented how it did so much for techno music, and almost got laughed at..

People only see it as another funky house tune these days, but which ever way you look at it, when techno legend Derrick May made it back in 1986, it certainly wasnt disco. :-)

Also, has anyone heard the original original original Cafe Del Mar? Another song which people have no idea about the history of..!

Ever tried buying the original? Tricky process!

I don't think anyone realises that most tunes are just something from the past butchered. It's been going on for years.

I agree bedhead. I get quite annoyed with my housemate playing it all the time. the vocal really doeas get on my nerves. The original is stunning.

Re. cafe del mar: hasn't that be floating around for about 20 odd years? There's been that many remakes of it, i'm not sure id know which one the original was.

Agreed, as we all know it happens all the time but this one is particularly offensive. Can't people leave classics alone - it still sounds amazing today - well it did until I heard it with the sodding vocal and like Bedhead can't listen to the original properly now :(

i've had the (mis)fortune of only having heard this remix once, but i'm (not) amazed why they chose this track to remix. It (will make them a lot of money) doesn't have the 'space' to fit the vocal in. The vocal drowns out the parts of the track that make it what it is (was hastily produced, and sounds identical to that on any funky house record).

Rough isn't it! I'm glad that i'm not the only one to dislike the vocal. Pointless!
