Flourish 28-06-2007, 12:27 PM Try Aspects of Beauty on Manchester Road they are fantastic - if you want Cheap then try Castle college they are always wanting modles for the students to practice on, i have had my hair done there a couple of times they are very slow but they are very accurate as they are been watched all the time might be worth a try.
chickywiggle 07-07-2007, 02:18 PM Hi,
I've searched the threads but the majority have only got "have pm'd you" as the reply's.
At short notice me and a friend have decided to get our hair coloured before my wedding. PROBLEM: need a mobile hairdresser to do this one evening this week or next saturday (during the day). Can anyone help??
Also we are having a party next weekend and if anyone who does makeup parties would be free on Saturday please PM me.
Thanks.

faithc 31-08-2007, 01:55 PM Can someone please recommend (possibly, mobile) bridal hairdressers in Sheffield? I read some previous posts and checked with Polly Jensen, but she's already got two weddings booked that morning. I'm definitely getting panicky now! Thanks.

Hi,
can anyone recommend someone who does bridal hair and makeup? thanks mads
Fooman 16-09-2007, 06:23 PM I'm using Polly Jensen who was highly recommended to me and there have been several posts about her already on here somewhere. She has a website so search for Polly Jensen.
**elle** 19-09-2007, 12:06 PM I'd second Fooman's recommendation. Polly did my hair and make-up for my wedding. She was fantastic, and did a brilliant job despite the chaos that was unfolding around her. I'd use her again in a flash.
hbofinger 21-09-2007, 12:59 PM And I would third the recommendation for Polly Jensen - she did my hair and makeup (and my mothers and godmothers) for my wedding and it was EXACTLY what I wanted. She was fabulous and I couldn't recommend her enough!
samlasota 27-09-2007, 11:11 PM i did my own hair and make up , as i was fed up with people making a mess of it and making me look so unlike myself! You know your own hair and face better than anyone, why don't you have a go at doing your own hun? my wedding pics or on here if you wanna have a look!x
pollyj 03-10-2007, 01:29 PM Just wanted to say thanks to you all that have recommended me -it really means a lot! Arent I lucky to have such a nice job:)
Hi,
I've posted this question before, but I didn't get any response so I'm trying again...
...can anyone recommend any good mobile hairdressers for bridal hair? I've no idea how to find out what they're like other than posting on here!
Thanks very much. x
Rachael27 29-10-2007, 10:43 PM My mobile hairdresser is very good and she will be going my hair for my wedding in march. PM me if you want her number x
Tiggeriffic 02-11-2007, 02:17 PM I'm getting married in February 2008 and need some advice about hair and make-up on a budget.
I don't usually wear make-up so I have no idea how to do it myself! But I don't want to spend hundreds of pounds on a professional. I thought about going into one of the department stores for a free advice/make-over session to give me some ideas but then I'd have to buy the make-up - suppose I might use it again! Apart from that I don't know what to do!!
So any advice/ideas you've got would be great!
Thanks!
Tiggeriffic
gina2007 02-11-2007, 04:37 PM If you go to i-Candy on infirmary rd (Or ring them) im more than sure they charge around £40, for a trial hair and make-up, they do about 4-6 different styles and same with make-up 4-6 different colours etc. Then, you can either say no or book in for the proper one on the wedding day. A friend recently went there, and she loved it :) cost her around £90 for 2 trials and the proper one.
jessm 04-11-2007, 07:35 PM Hi I've got the same problem as Tiggerific! I'm not used to wearing make up and don't want to look like a child that's been let lose with her mother's make up bag on the day! Does anyone know anywhere in the south side of the city (Woodseats/Sharrow/Heeley etc) that might offer this same service?
gina2007 04-11-2007, 11:38 PM Hiya Jessm, I found that if you ring up hairdressers that have a 'beauty' bit, like make up/sunbed etc explain your situation, they'll either.. make an appointment to see them, or if they don't do 'weddings' they refer you to another shop that does it. I've had to do this 5 or 6 times for family getting married on a budget. My Aunt got her whole wedding for less than £750. Hope this helps..

Wow! Does your aunt want to be a wedding planner? lol
RenB21 06-11-2007, 10:07 PM I can offer you a makeup service. I work for Virgin Vie and I will come to you to do a trial, and then to you on the day (wherever you are getting ready), and do your makeup on the day.
I can do this for £35 (this includes your trial). I can also do the makeup for your full bridal party, same price, however if the rest of the party didn't want to have a trial, I can do their makeup on the day for £20.
If you really are on a budget and want to do your makeup on the day (I do recommend having it done by a professional, however each person differs!), you could hold a Virgin Vie party, where I can show you how to apply makeup or one of your bridal party who could then do it for you on the day.
As for the products as a party hostess you receive 15% of any sales for free, therefore saving you money on buying any products.
If you are interested in receiving more information, PM me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
rachelina 04-12-2007, 10:42 PM I am also looking for a (preferably mobile) hairdresser to do my hair for my wedding. I looked through some old threads and lots of people had recommended Polly Jensen but unfortuantely she isn't available for my wedding date (next August!) ...and I contacted someone else but she has not got back to me. I have looked in the yellow pages and googled.... but I really want a recommendation!
Who did your hair?? Anyone had any experience of Hoopers on Abbey Lane?
Please help! Thanks xxx
Fooman 05-12-2007, 02:56 PM Sorry, can only recommend Polly as shes doing mine, don't know of any others

Tiggeriffic 29-01-2008, 06:56 PM Hello! I've been cultivating my nails for a few weeks now and they usually grow quite nicely but with less than 2 weeks to my wedding I've nearly broken them all!!! :(
Can anyone recommend a good salon or mobile technician who can do me a nice set of 'falsies'? And which 'falsies' are the best the acrylic ones you glue on or the ones that are built up with loads of layers of 'stuff'? (Are they called UV nails?!?!) I'm not very girly so I have no idea about these things!!!!
Thanks!
Tiggeriffic
leanora 29-01-2008, 11:48 PM hey! (tiggers are wonderful things! la la la tee tum tee tee....)
I had my wedding nails done at House Creations in Commonside with Denise. She's fantastic. They looked really natural, cost about £25 I think for a full set of silk wraps with extensions. She basically puts some 'tips' on your nails to make them longer, then covers them in layers of silk to strengthen them. They look lovely!
koollady142 30-01-2008, 06:31 PM I too am not very girly and wanted my nails doing for my wedding last summer. I tried the silk wrapped ones and broke them all in the first couple of days. I then tried acrylics and they were great - I never managed to break a single one. Most nail salons are fine and capable of doing a decent set of acrylics, but I would avoid the Chinese type places, they tend to remove false nails by grinding them off, they ruined my nails when I had my tips removed!
Fooman 30-01-2008, 11:02 PM Anyone tried Lush Nails in Hillsborough? I go passed there quite often and wonder what they're like. I'm convinced that my nails will all break the week before my wedding so think now to rule out that problem and go for false ones!!

Fooman 10-02-2008, 09:36 AM Theres been several posts on here about make up people and most people have been recommending Polly Jensen. Have a search on the site as her contact details have already been given. If not PM me and I'll forward them to you. I'm using her for my wedding and she sounds brilliant.
lozluabdan 11-02-2008, 11:39 AM I am a fully qualified make up artist and work for a fraction of the prices quoted on Polly Jensens website feel free to pm me.

Every little bit helps when you are on a budget.
Classic Rock 11-02-2008, 11:58 AM Do you have a friend who uses make up? I'm sure if you asked them they will gladly share their make up with you for the day and help you apply it. It saves you going out to buy things you won't use again.
rach0106 11-02-2008, 03:36 PM My goodness am I stuggling with this one!! I am wanting my hair in an 'up' do for my wedding day. I was hoping to find someone who can do put ups and comes to the house. The last thing I want is to be driving to a hairdressers with everything else that will going on!! Can anyone recommend?!!!!
Fooman 11-02-2008, 08:51 PM Polly Jensen has been a big hit on here - there are several posts similar to your request. I'm using her and couldn't be any happier. Search her name on Google as I can't remember her website address.
rach0106 11-02-2008, 09:34 PM Anyone other than Polly Jensen though as I am unable to have her on my wedding day.
Kaye2812 12-02-2008, 02:06 PM Anyone other than Polly Jensen though as I am unable to have her on my wedding day.
I am looking for the same thing, Polly is a little out of my price range and have so far drawn a blank on others. Any suggestions would be great! I have tried a few hairdressers who specialise in wedding hair but have yet to find one who can offer a mobile service.
I agree with you about not wanting to drive about on my wedding day to get my hair done!
*Indigo* 13-02-2008, 12:18 PM I have several years experience of doing Bridal Makeup using Virgin Vie products at very reasonable prices.
Bride £40
Adult Bridesmaids £20
Mothers £20
Teenage Bridesmaids £10
Child Bridesmaids £5
If you want to have a Virgin Vie party I will do the Bride for just £20!!!
All of the above prices include a trial. I usaually do the trials at your home and then I travel to wherever you are getting ready on the day of the wedding. So do trips around town for you to worry about!!!

EldonEng 16-02-2008, 02:12 PM I have my nails done at E-Nails in Killamarsh, they only do Acrylic nails, but these are by far the best to have, they are hard wearing and also give that perfect manicured look, they will do any style you ask them for, i have been going there now for the past six years and i wouldnt go anywhere else.
medusa 16-02-2008, 02:24 PM I've had acrylics, silk wrap and fibreglass (although I gave up having any false nails a number of years ago) and the best advice I can give is that you need to think about what you're likely to be doing with your nails on.
If you aren't used to having long nails then you can cause yourself lots of pain by catching your nails on things. If you had natural nails then catching them on something would break your nails, but if you have mega tough false nails they don't break and you are instead at risk of pulling your natural nail off your nail bed if there is sufficient force behind the movement. I managed to rip my nail totally off my nail bed on 2 fingers catching a heavy ball which I really shouldn't have attempted with long nails. Had my nails been natural or the glue been weaker I would have broken them or ripped the false nails from my natural nails.
If your nails go very soft when immersed in water you may find that you need to have a really strong sort like acrylics though- my nails go so flexible that they break the glue bond with most false nails if I go swimming or similar, so that's another consideration.
I agree that acrylics seem to last longest, but they also caused the most damage to get them removed.
waddy 16-02-2008, 04:27 PM I am going to illusionz at attercliffe for my nails.I am myself a hairdresser and qualified nail tech but dont do either anymore.I love silk wraps they look natural.I have gel when I go away they are so glossy.Acrylic are hard wearing but I personally don't like them.I have heard good things about Illusionz and I pass when going to work so I'll be popping in next week
mgblade 17-02-2008, 01:38 PM ive got a beauty salon up on middlewood road, hillsborough and ive got an offer on for silk and acrylic nails for £15 per full set untill march, amy is a fully qualified nail technician pm me for details.

KATIEB_23 20-02-2008, 06:13 PM Thanks but i'm actually promoting my services as a bridal make-up artist. Not trying to be pedantic or anything but there is a sticky in this section titled "Wedding Services Offered" where you can advertise your service.... as you have started a whole thread in the open Forum, people are perfectly justified to add whatever they want to say (even if they are promoting competition! ;))
waddy 24-02-2008, 11:27 AM I always do my own hair and makeup but I am considering having it done professionally on my wedding day.I get married at 11;30 so Ideally want it done at my home.I have seen loads of people advertising their makeup services but want someone that to does hair also.
waddy 24-02-2008, 01:28 PM I have been to illusionz but do want someone to come to my home.
DiamondGirl 26-03-2008, 10:25 PM Hi.
Im getting married in jamaica in 3 months.
I want my hair a bit up with the rest down and curly (sort of like with GHDs or something)
Trouble is I cant really find a picture. And im worrying that whoever the hairdresser is that she wont be able to do it me (and i dont fancy dreadlocks :hihi:)
Should i get someone to do my hair here? buy the clips and everything and then take a picture? oh i dont know........im proper panicking :(
emharrison 27-03-2008, 01:12 PM yes, get it done here first...
then you wont be panicking,
I am doing exactly that this weekend, as am having my hair done by a little hairdressers who usually does blue rinses, so thought it would be wise to get a practice run first.
REMEMBER to ask lots of questions and write down the techniques that they used and take pictures of each stage as well.
good luck and then post the result here!!
I just got married in Antigua and my daughters and I were worried about the same thing in the end we all just ended up with our hair left down and fairly natural as it was quite windy (we married in a white gazebo overlooking the sea) Even when we had some photo's taken on the beach it still looked great to have our hair naturally blowing. I'm not sure what location you're getting married but do think about the wind from the sea if you do. :)
jayne67 28-03-2008, 12:52 PM Hi
My 8 year old daughter has decided that she wants flowers/fancy combs or something like in her hair for a wedding next week. She is not a bridesmaid, so nothing to extravagant.
She has quite long hair, and would like it took up with said tranquilment! Can anyone suggest a Hairdresser preferably in S6, or near, who could do this?
Thanks in advance
Jayne
waddy 30-03-2008, 12:02 PM Has anyone used this company?I am looking for a hair and makeup artist for my wedding.Loads of makeup artists advertising but noone that to do both!!Need to be mobile really as I get married early.
sugarcandie 02-04-2008, 07:56 PM Hi there
I’m an Ex-Virgin Vie Rep, and my friend is a Hairdresser.
We've both had experience in doing hair and make up for brides, and also bridesmaids and guests. We are very creative & can help with styles and we're willing to try different ideas at the trial.
Decisions can be difficult, so to make comparisons easier we can to take digital photo's of the bride. We can then play them back to her in a fantastic computer generate slide show, to her favourite mushy song. This gives the bride a chance to have a second look and compare her ideas, or even show her friends.
As we work as a team this means we can also make over another lucky lady at the same time, with all the same benefits but at only 50% of the normal price. Why not invite your matron of honour, a bridesmaid or maybe your mum or little sister.
What a fantastic way to spend an evening, with a glass of wine, some girly chats thrown in free!
Please email us if you’re interested in our VIP bridal - trial and relaxation sessions, and that fantastic feeling when you know you're the fairest in the land...
Thanks

Fooman 02-04-2008, 10:53 PM Polly Jensen has been used for a lot of people's weddings and has been recommended on this site a lot if you do a search. I'm using her for my wedding and shes doing my hair and makeup plus mums and bridesmaid and coming out to my wedding venue on the day. Having my hair trials with her next weekend and I can't wait - she sounds lovely. Google her as she has a website.
Classic Rock 03-04-2008, 10:19 AM I've got the same issue, but I'm getting married in Hawaii, so will have a lot of last minute sourcing to do when I get over there!
Have you looked through the Wedding Services Offered section? There's usually plenty of people advertising their services there.
Kashul 14-04-2008, 08:04 AM Polly made all the differance to me and mine on the day, shes superb girlies xx
