I am going to be waiting 8 weeks for a fireplace of my choice

8-12 weeks for a suite
8-12 weeks for fitted wardrobes.
3 weeks for garage shelving
4 weeks for window blinds and curtains,
8 weeks for a conservatory,
5 weeks for a garden fence,
4 weeks for a garden shed,

and thats just for starters!

I reckon there must be a giant warehouse somewhere in this country stocking all the things that I want, but with a little jobsworth in charge who will only 'release' them to keep up the demand!

I could do you some wardrobes sooner than that, they'll be better too :D

That aside it is getting ridiculous now, it seems none of the big retail park stores have anything in them apart from display models.....

Forfeiting availability for wide range of choice and lower cost I guess.

Ikea seem to manage ok though.

try shopping on the web - most places tend to be cheaper and do next day delivery - I have just done my house up and bought most of the fittings etc on the web - can recommend some great sites if you let me know what you want - better than queueing in B&Q!

I've spent all day trying to order a North Face Rolling Thunder bag from various websites but all say it would take at least 21 days as it comes from Belgium! Surely they'd all want to stock some?

Anyway I eventually found 1 website that have over 40 in stock in the UK :loopy:

I went into Currys last night to buy a fridge. I asked the woman if they have got one in stock. she had a look at the computer..ummmed and arrred a bit then said no. I said not anywhere..they said no. They seemed only to have the display model...which they wont sell.

What is the point....!

I saw an offer on a Comet for the washing machine I've been after for a couple of weeks, only £179 instead of £250!!! However Ive seen these things before, they advertise them as 'in stores now' but the stores only get about 3 of em, and when they're gone they're gone!!!! So instead I went to the internet and ordered that way, at least then I'm sure to get it without having to trail round 15 different shops in my search.
Be warned though, I discovered (the hard way) that not all offers etc are available online, the website said free removal of old appliances was available if requested on ordering, I didn't get the option to request that when I ordered!! I ended up phoning them to ask about it and was told that the option is not available for online ordering because of the other offers that apply to online orders, so I quoted their webpage at them and was grudgingly given free removal of my old washer....but a week after my new one is delivered!!!!

"Computer says no..."

I always get hacked off at the old: "We ain't got it 'cos there's no demand" excuse that usuall follows a request for a size 10+ shoe in a certain high street retailer...it leads me to the conclusion that my asking for it must not constitute a "demand" and leads me to wonder what does? Must hordes of consumers with slightly above average but not too large feet descend from the hills?

I sometimes wonder...
