A friend of mine recently got a call from venture portraits saying that he has won a voucher of 125 or 150 pounds allowing him to have a photo shoot with his family and giving a free photo as well. He had entered some competition in one of the malls. Certainly i did see a kiosk of venture portaits at meadowhall but did not dare go towards it for risk of getting roped in!
But really has any one had any experience with them? Is it worth it or are their offers too good to be true without having some clause in the small print?

In general, I would say yes it is fine. Some relatives of mine used them and the photos are pretty good. I have won two photo shoots (at different studios) and had pictures taken of my kids. They are usually pretty genuine offers. They will give you the large print for free and they hope that you will splash out the £500 on the rest of them. Of course, I just take the freebie and run!

I've used Venture - got a similar free offer. They take loads of photos and they're all a bit unusual. When you go back a few nights later, you get to see them all. The free print they give you is very small, 7" by 5" I think. Because most of the pictures are so good, I ended up spending about another £300 to get some decent sized prints of the good ones!

I have to admit walking past venture in meadowhall is impressive. I am into photography and i love the pictures they take but the voucher for £150 wont go far for venture. They wanted to charge a family friend something like £900 for 2 prints. Personally i think it is ridiculous,

i print pictures using a dark room and it costs me around £50 a term (12 weeks) for use of a studio, paper (any size) and films at my college. So to charge around £400 for 1 print that gives me a big proffit.

In my opinion they are just out to make proffit. Yes they look good but there are other places that do equally good or better photos (in the same style) for a cheaper price. Try AGM photography ( i think its called that) on middle wood road they use similar techniques to venture.
