Can anyone recommend a good carvery in Sheffield for a family birthday party?

Planning for a Thursday night. They don't just do them on Sundays do they?

All info is welcome.

Cheers.

Many thanks for the suggestions.

We went to the Crosspool Tavern, so I guess this is just a bit of feedback.

The phone lines etc had gone down, so payment had to be in cash rather than by card.

Food was great value. Between 5pm and 8pm, it's £4.25 per person.

They had one huge joints of ham and beef, plus a turkey. You can pick two out of the three.

Veg is all you can eat.

Place is in need of a refurb though. Carpets a bit thredbear and one or two cobwebs about.

Overall, though it gets the thumbs up.

Has anyone been here at lunch times latley.. I promised a friend from out of town I would treat them to dinner at the crosspool tavern.. someone mentioned to me that it has changed hands recently.
Does anyone have any ideas what the prices are midweek lunchtimes these days and is the food still up to scratch??

Cheers. During the week The Crosspool tavern is great value (2.99) and good food but I went to the Wheatsheaf at Parkhead/Whirlow on Sunday and it is a cut above, everything was spot on. It was 7.99 but It's reduced in the week I think. Very nice though;)

The Wheatsheaf along Ecclesall Road South does a Carvery in the evenings

Although I have heard good reviews for it we tried it once - didn't think it was good. Poor service and very slack at restocking the food - no roast pots (the ultimate sin)or the essential sauces (lamb or horseradish). But hopefully it was just a poor night.

The best carvery I have ever tasted by far has to be the Robin Hood in Stannington!!! Stupendous value for money with homemade food, serving loads of choices of veg and potatoes with three meats!! Not like your usual carrots and peas and new pots and roaties, there literally is about 8 veggies and 3-4 pot varieties and you can have the lot! Cant beat it for £7 (well it was last time i went in the summer)

I dont know if they do it during the week, but on a sunday it is very busy specially in the summer i would recommend you book!!

Great for families and going for walks as its nr Rivelin. If you wonder where it is as its hard to find, its just past what used to be Pinegrove country club.

I love it here, (no i dont work here or know the owners, just a satisfied customer)

ROBIN HOOD, ROBIN HOOD!

The Toby Carvery on Ecclesall Rd is very good. Think its about £7 per head all in.
