Does anyone know what the old building is you can see from west bar roundabout going down corporation street - its in the distance and look like pitsmoor area. It looks like some old haunted house!

If it's the one I'm thinking of it used to be a school, not sure what it is now, I think it's been a Chinese community centre or something in recent years.

it's the old pye bank school, if you look on picture sheffield you'll see this

this is what it looked like when the maisonettes surrounded it

edit,
this is the same building, seen from the recreaton ground behind it (it's not great, not very clear I'm afraid)

I know the one you mean. From the distance it would make a wicked set for a horror film. Do you know if its used today still as a community centre or is it derelict?

ahhh, *wistful sigh*...

the bottom right hand corner of that picture was where the block of maisonettes was, where I lived 20-odd years ago. (Andover drive)

it's odd, because on one view, you can still see the block of maisonettes, (well, they were altered into houses, about 15 yrs ago) but on the one in the actual link CKG gives us, the land is empty.

Where the grassy area is, just below the school , with the path and the circular thing in the middle was where the Woodside Community Centre was, and the first of the four high-rise blocks of flats were.

ahh, memories!

A brothel perhaps.

That would have been funnier if it was the first response. Since we've established what the building is/was, its kind of lost its effect
