Not to be confused with BB's on Devonshire Street. http://www.bibisrestaurant.com c_datexpress 10-01-2005, 17:30 which marcos do you mean? Marco @ Milanos? Marcos at Woodseats (obviously not as that's not on Abbeydale Road although a fabulous little italian)... not a huge fan of La Scala myself i have to say - bit hit and miss i find!! The waiters were really attentive. Also, I had the greatest spare ribs in there that I have ever had. Yum. :D beckb 10-01-2005, 19:50 Originally posted by theflyingfish These are both good Italians on Abbeydale Road are they not? Which is better? cheers Depends on what you're after. La Scala is a cosy, everyday Italian whilst Marcos is definately more a push the boat out kind of place. theflyingfish 12-01-2005, 14:30 Originally posted by Micky Bibi's in Leeds is excellent if you fancy a trip to Leeds. Speedy_Jim 13-01-2005, 10:47 Been to both, and found Marcos to be incredibly snotty and pretentious. The food was good, but not great and certainly not good value. The waiters were overly intrusive - I couldn't even have a conversation without one marching in and topping up my glass, regardless of whether it was empty or not. I felt rushed, harrassed, and unwelcome. La Scala is a middle of the road Italian. It's good in the week cos it's not too busy but at weekends it can be a bit hectic. The food is nice - good steaks and good fresh fish - but nothing outstanding. The service is fine (but slow when it's busy). theflyingfish 13-01-2005, 14:08 Originally posted by Speedy_Jim Been to both, and found Marcos to be incredibly snotty and pretentious. OK thanks GazB 14-01-2005, 11:47 I went to Nonna's Italian on Eccy Rd the other night. The starter and dessert's weren't very nice and were VERY expensive.. but the main course (can't remember the name) was gorgeous. Staff all very friendly and was a nice atmosphere. Bill for 8 people came to £220.... :| Pipine 14-01-2005, 12:08 I'm suprised anyone was made to feel unwelcome at Marco's. I've been many times, dressed relatively scruffily considering how classy the resteraunt is and marco and the waiting staff have never been anything but lovely to us. I think the service is just right.. you feel looked after without it being too overbearing. The food is the best in Sheffield in my opinion... not been to La Scala so I can't comment but you can't get much better than Marcos if you ask me. |
