Well after months and months of being fobbed off by the NHS consultants at Rotherham and Sheffield, we gave up and booked in to see Mr. Li at Thornbury, and now we're wondering why we didn't do it sooner!
Last year, my GP referred me because she thought I had PCOS. Rotherham did a scan and told me my ovaries were clear and there was basically nothing wrong with me. As for the Sheffield consultant...well, don't get me started!
Last night, Mr. Li did an ultrasound there and then in his room, and lo and behold, my ovaries are indeed covered in cysts and I do have PCOS, which is what I suspected all along! 5 minutes is all it took to confirm what the NHS have been dithering over for 8 months.....
Anyway, I need an x-ray which should happen in the next 2 or 3 weeks, and then I can go back in about 4 weeks or so and he'll put me straight onto fertility drugs! :) It's amazing what happens when you start paying for treatment!
We'd have still been in the dark for another 6 months if we'd stuck with the NHS! And as for how Rotherham managed to mis-diagnose my PCOS I have no idea, I saw the ultrasound myself, the cysts were clear as day!

I'm feeling extremely relieved that we finally have a diagnosis and we can move forward! :D

I am really glad you have got a diagnosis and that you can now move on with help. Hope the next few visits are pain free! And the treatment is successful.

Great news Go Go! Hope things start to move along quickly now and you get somewhere. Hopefully the patter of tiny feet are only JUST around the corner! Good Luck!

That's awful that they misdiagnosed you. Dr Li is the doctor I saw at Jessops when I went back about my PCOS. Glad you now know what is wrong and you can start doing what you need to do. Fingers crossed :)

Mr Li is a sweetie, isn't he? I was fortunate enough to see him on the NHS and have the same diagnosis as yourself. I got pregnant the first time I took the fertility drugs so here's wishing you the same.

Well, minor hiccup has occured already!
Mr Li prescribed me some Progesterone tablets called Provera to induce a period so I could have my Hysterosalpingogram xray, but the tablets haven't worked, so Mr Li called me yesterday and said that my hormonal imbalance may be more severe as first thought as it's very unusual I haven't responded to the tablets.
So I'm going back to see him on Saturday to have a chat about what happens next. He said he'd need to do some tests (bloods at a guess) and then decide on either an injection to make me have a period, or maybe we would have to consider minor surgery. Now being the dizzy blonde I am, I never thought to ask what kind of surgery!! :loopy:

So, we shall see what Saturday brings!! I just keep thinking if I was still on the NHS I still wouldn't even know that I had PCOS and would just be sat waiting for my appointment in February to roll around!
Thanks for the kind words of support too, I shall keep you all posted!
