My daughter is at Sheffield College in her second year of City & Guilds Hairdressing and Beauty. She loves her classes and would be zooming through it apart from one thing LACK OF CLIENTS.

Come of Sheffield! On Wednesday mornings 9-12 you could have you hair wash, cut and blow dried for only £3.60!! They aslo do colours for extremely cheap rates. Or 6pm - 8pm on Thursday.

I'm actually interested in this. I have a friend who had regular haircuts at Castle College and was always pleased with them (though also always very nervous beforehand...).

How do you book in with them??

I've had a few things done there, more manicures sort of stuff, year 2 and 3 students are reassuringly good.
Go for it, its cheap, good quality as a tutor is always about, safe in my experience and worth it. I really enjoyed all my visits. :) Must book another.

I used to get mine done at RCAT but was put off when it started taking three hours for a trim (someone to wash, someone to comb the hair, someone to trim, then wait for the tutor to approve, then someone to dry it.....slowwwww!)

Just had my haircut today. At the moment it is also free for gentlemen, takes longer, but they are only yong trainees. I am quite pleased with mine and can vouch that a good job will be done by all of the students. Book first on the number previously given, that's a must.

My daugher has asked me to post her thanks for all your positive responses. She has also asked me to reiterate that all the work is supervised and to a very high standard, (me thinks she getting big for her boots!:D ) so please don't be nervous to give it a try.

Thanks again, and don't forget, when you think you need that new style and you don't want to break the bank, ring Sheffield Castle College.

Enough plugging for her now, back to work for her poor old mother!

Have a good weekend u all!

sounds great, but can i ask - do you get a choice about the style you get? or do you get what they've practised that week?

Yes, the choice is most definately yours, and heaven help the student who doesn't listen to the client - they are very well supervised

No, they do all styles and it's just like going to a regular hairdresser, you choose your own style

Do they do eyelash and eyebrow tinting? I've been going to Spa 1877 for ages, but they've got no therapists in for the next two weeks because of a training course.

Just to repeat, that's NO therapists AT ALL for TWO WEEKS!!!

I'm very annoyed at this and totally desparate for tinting.
