Do you reckon it'll be any good?

Didnt it flop in the US?

i was fortunate/unfortunate, depending on your point of view to be living in the good old USA at the time it came out. It became the highest rated show in america, which is no mean feat. however, in my humble opinion, and this is coming from a huge Friends fan, who so wanted it to work - its crap. Sorry. Don't know when/if it'll be over here.

I think I read that Channel 5 have bought it. Don't know when they're planning to show it though.

Hopefully it'll never be on our television.

Urgh, Friends is over- stop milking it for all it's worth!

Think of something new please....

I think it's ok... bit strange that none of the other Friends cast even bothered to make a quest appearence.

It seems to struggle a bit from only having four main characters (Joey, his sister, His nephew/roommate and the neighbour) and so the story always seems to revolve around a few things like Joey being a crap actor, his sister being easy, his nephew being a geek and not getting the girl, or who the neighbour is gonna hook up with as her husband is always away on business.

Strange casting too, as in real life Drea de Matteo (Joey's sister) is only five years older than Paulo Costanzo (her son). Also, I much prefered Ashley Scott as the neighbour, she was in the original pilot that the studio made, but was dropped for the one that aired on TV (I enjoyed her performance more than that of Andrea Anders who replaced her) ... Could have been something to do with the see-through T-Shirts she was wearing with no bra... I don't think it would have gone down too well on American TV. Anders has a much more wholesome 'girl next door' look that American's seem to prefer.

Anyway, If you love Joey as a character you'll enjoy this, but don't expect anything as well made or as funny as friends.

I saw Joey once, by mistake, don't know what happend to it, might still be on, but it was just as bad as Friends, I think I'm too old for those silly bad acting sitcoms, although i do like "Every body loves Raymond " can be funny at times.

Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens - my favourite two shows when i was in USA !! They won't do much over here i don't think. Its just most American TV is rubbish and this was the best of a bad bunch!

Everybody Loves Raymond is one of my fav's too. Love it. It was top of the ratings when I lived there, and was usually on about 4 times a night in syndication.

Generally 5 have stated that they will begin showing it 'in the New Year'. This seems a bit vague, and as we are already 10 days in and I can see no sign of it anywhere I have e-mailed them and requested further details:P

If and when I get any response I will post my findings:)

Doesn't seem that it will be on for a while here. The current air dates are....

Country Date
USA 9 September 2004
Argentina 6 October 2004
Brazil 2 November 2004
Norway 1 December 2004
Sweden February 2005
Hungary 5 February 2005

So I wouldn't expect it until after feb at least.

UPDATE: Hmm... I just asked a friend that I thought would be in the know, and they say the unoffical airdate is Feb 7th... but this seems strange as its a monday night, so i'm not sure about that.

I've never cared much for Friends (guess I'm too old, heh) but if anyone has seen the Sopranos, Drea De Matteo was wonderful in that.

Unfortunately, her character was killed off last season for being an FBI informant. Waaaah!

I'm a Soprano fan too, can't wait for it to start again, i understand we won't see the Russian man again though, that episode was the best.

When Frasiers last episode aired over here my sister had me ring her up in Sheff and tell her how it ended, she couldn't wait till it came over there, had a nice phone bill after that one, could have Emailed her this time around.

The Sopranos is one of the best things on TV, as are other HBO series like Six Feet Under.

And what happened to the Russian man?! I must've missed that episode!

Tony sent Christopher & Pauly to a mans flat to rough him up a bit,(forgot why), it got out of control as he was a BIG RUSSIAN, took him to the woods to wack him, lost him, got lost themselves, stayed overnight in the wood, funny as hell.

you can get it all on DVD.
Last seasons episodes we saw a year ago, were awful, every episode was rubbish.

6ft under, great acting.

Ok,

I'm a mite confused here. I did see the episode where Christopher and Paulie were lost in the woods, and the guy they were supposed to kill got away. That was hilarious!

But that was some time ago. Maybe second or third season?

Anyway, the fifth season is out on DVD now.

And the sixth season starts in March. I'm looking forward to it. It was sad when Adriana was killed last season, but I knew as soon as they found out she was an informant, she was history. I was hoping she and Christopher would have the chance to work things out.

As I was going to lunch today I noticed someone's erected a billboard hoarding advertising Joey on the corner of the parkway ind est. I must confess to feeling quite unnerved at having a gargantuan Matt LeBlanc looming down upon me with his "grin o' cheese" turned to full glare.
