i'm currently a member of a couple of badminton clubs who have voted within the Sheffied league to adopt the new point/rally scoring method.
one of my mates who plays in the Chesterfield league - says they are staying with the old system.

has it bothered any of you badminton players, or do you not know or care?

I think it is a great idea and means every point is important and speeds the game up, you make a few errors and you are behind significantly. I really like it.

I think the new scoring system is great, it speeds up the game - plus, you have to be alert all the time as you can score/lose of every point. It has also served to speed up the game, just like the new scoring system in Table Tennis.

But having said that, wherever I play - it is still the old scoring system that is followed

Can you tell us what the difference is by any chance?

Do you mean players can score regardless of who is serving?

If so, do you just take it in turns to serve?

its easier to play it than explain it.
however the idea is that every point counts - if you win service you score a point.
the full rules should be available somewhere online for you.
i played old rules last week in a match and it is a slower game by comparison.

you score on every point regardless of who is serving.
no you only get one serer each time.
first player serves from RH court- if you win the point you continue to serve as before.
if you loose the point - serve goes across to opposition, who score a point.0-1
the player in the odd court(LH) would serve first for the opposition 'cos they've got 1 point. if they win a point they carry on serving,if they loose the point.you get the service back and score one point.
so @ 1-1 the player in LH court would serve.

it's easier to play it - basically only one player serves, when you loose serve it goes to the opposition.
the player stood in the court relative to the score serves.
even number, player in RH court serves, odd number player in LH serves.
