My beautiful main coon (probably spelled wrong) female cat came home on monday in pain. We thought she was outside and were calling her name repeatedly until finally finding her hiding in the house hiding which is unusual.
She was in pain, and lots of it. Her tail was paralised and couldnt feel anything below the base. After several vet trips and 6 injections we find out she has got a fracture in the base of her tail and it has to be amputated today. She has no other injury.
Im almost certain that the neighbour 2 doors down (a know cat hater) has kicked her and caused this fracture. When speaking to the vet he said the wounds she has would indicate being hit from the rear whilst she was probably moving away and that would fit in with being kicked HARD.
We have previously caught him trying to catch and kick the cat and ive already been round his house giving him a ticking off about it. His excuse is that the cats shouldnt be allowed outside and they are attacking "his" birds. By this he means the wild birds that fly around, not his own pets. I pointed out to him that he is trying to stop animal cruelty to a wild animal by being cruel to another animal and that his excuse was completely stupid.
I want this stupid old retarded man to stop harming animals and I want him to recognise what he is doing to these animals. Luckily the guy is so old he must be nearly dead by now, he has no family, no life and nothing better to do that to spoil other peoples lives. I feel sorry for the guy in a way but there is no excuse for attacking a harmless animal and I can see that somebody with nothing better to do but watch TV would likely turn to entertaining mad thought such as animal violence.
Obviously I have no hard evidence that he attacked my cat but he has previously attacked the same animal and the damage she has gained would match this.
Do you think the RSPCA would support me with a letter to the guy??? or maybe should I just go round and speak to him again. I dont want to give the old guy a heart attack but as you can imagine im pretty ****** off and dont want this to happen again.
I considered presenting him with the vet bill as a bluff (she is insured anyway) and warning him that if I ever saw him so much as near my cat hes in trouble.
To add insult to injury... Arial (the cat) hardly ever leaves the house. So is so slow and clumbsy she have never caught anything more than a fly. She never wanders more than a garden or 2 away and really doesnt deserve what happened to her.
Advice please???
