View Full Version : Confronting a pet hater

My beautiful main coon (probably spelled wrong) female cat came home on monday in pain. We thought she was outside and were calling her name repeatedly until finally finding her hiding in the house hiding which is unusual.

She was in pain, and lots of it. Her tail was paralised and couldnt feel anything below the base. After several vet trips and 6 injections we find out she has got a fracture in the base of her tail and it has to be amputated today. She has no other injury.

Im almost certain that the neighbour 2 doors down (a know cat hater) has kicked her and caused this fracture. When speaking to the vet he said the wounds she has would indicate being hit from the rear whilst she was probably moving away and that would fit in with being kicked HARD.

We have previously caught him trying to catch and kick the cat and ive already been round his house giving him a ticking off about it. His excuse is that the cats shouldnt be allowed outside and they are attacking "his" birds. By this he means the wild birds that fly around, not his own pets. I pointed out to him that he is trying to stop animal cruelty to a wild animal by being cruel to another animal and that his excuse was completely stupid.

I want this stupid old retarded man to stop harming animals and I want him to recognise what he is doing to these animals. Luckily the guy is so old he must be nearly dead by now, he has no family, no life and nothing better to do that to spoil other peoples lives. I feel sorry for the guy in a way but there is no excuse for attacking a harmless animal and I can see that somebody with nothing better to do but watch TV would likely turn to entertaining mad thought such as animal violence.

Obviously I have no hard evidence that he attacked my cat but he has previously attacked the same animal and the damage she has gained would match this.

Do you think the RSPCA would support me with a letter to the guy??? or maybe should I just go round and speak to him again. I dont want to give the old guy a heart attack but as you can imagine im pretty ****** off and dont want this to happen again.

I considered presenting him with the vet bill as a bluff (she is insured anyway) and warning him that if I ever saw him so much as near my cat hes in trouble.

To add insult to injury... Arial (the cat) hardly ever leaves the house. So is so slow and clumbsy she have never caught anything more than a fly. She never wanders more than a garden or 2 away and really doesnt deserve what happened to her.

Advice please???

I don't advocate violence, generally, but, for whoever did this to your cat, I'd make an exception.

unfotunately, as the RSPCA said to me, when someone kicked my puppy to death, some 25 years ago:- it has to be SEEN, for them to be able to take action. It can't be just "well, so-and so thinks it was Nedward who did it"

So, the "person" (I use the term loosley, BTW) who killed my little Candy-cuddle-pup, got away with it scott -free. I/ they couldn't bring a prosecution against him, more's the pity.

Poor you and poor cat. I would present him with a vets bill as a bluff definately and ask him to throw water at your cat if she appears on his garden, she will soon get the message without the need for pain or injury. Hopefully though she will stay clear from him from now on.

What a sad, pathetic man he is, I wouldnt be worried about giving him a heart attack far from it.

So sorry to hear about this zerocool (and your own horror story, plain talker) there are some evil people out there. I hope your maine coon baby recovers soon. As Pt says, unless the attack has been witnessed, there's not a lot can be done but one good thing will have come from this - your baby once she ventures outside again will steer well clear of the monster who put her through so much pain. Small compensation for her injury and your upset, but something to reassure you somewhat, I hope. I lived next to a cat hating thug for a couple of years and am almost certain he was responsible for the death of one of my kittens by air rifle (and he had a catapult too but even though we reported him, nothing was done). I believe in karma though and the evil git got his come uppance when he dropped dead just after we moved house (we moved to get away from him). xK

I'm so sorry to hear about poor Arial- she always seems to live such a blameless little life that it seems very unfair that she be made to pay for the 'sins' of the cat population as a whole.

I too am a believer in karma- he'll get his comeuppance at some point, and that level of hatred must affect him in other ways.

Give her a gentle cuddle off me please.

She is home now with a lump where her tail used to be. Apparently the tail is not just paralysed but also fracture at the base so they were unable to stop her pain. The tail has been removed and with no more pressure there they say the pain will be limited but until the fracture heals she will not be 100%.

£280 so far with further treatments to come. Im sure the old fool will roll over if I present that to him!!! I wonder if I carry the cat around to his house with me if she will tell me when we get near if its him or not. For my mind thats enough incriminating evidence to scare the guy ****less. Last time I was polite, not sure this time ill keep my cool.

Ill keep you guys up to date with her progress but at the moment she is hiding away in dark places. Not happy. :(

Nice to see your still alive medusa... not heard anything from you in ages. Where you been hiding???

poor girl!! I hope shes ok. I cant believe anyone would do anything so horrible to any creature, never mind such a lovely one!!
ive just seen a puss outside and ran over to cuddle it!!

you should go round and kick his tail for a while, before amputating it!! see how he likes it.

poor baby, she's lovely. I know you're probably still fuming and upset at the moment and wonder how your Arial (we were thinking of calling our next cat Arial, seeing as we havea bit of an 'A' theme going with cat names), is going to cope without her tail, but cats are really resiliant creatures and believe me, she will be herself again sooner than you think. Lots of love, fuss and rest and she will be purring again.

We've recently seen a lovely ginger girl at the CPL who had to have her eye removed- it looked horrendous but soon you'll hardly even notice it's gone and despite whatever cruel treatment she must have endured to end up in that state, she is a gorgeous fussy girl who is due to be adopted by a loving new family soon, so good can come out of evil.

I had a persian cat and one day found him laying on back garden with blood on his face he had to go to vets and have an operation and then had something wrong with his eyes and nose so my mum gave him 2 a woman who had about 4 persians to look after as he wouldnt come near our front garden and just hid in house. if i'd have found out who it was i would have kicked them in face 2 see how they liked it

There are some evil, cruel people about.

I always had outdoor moggies before, but when we got the posh uns in '03, we agreed to keep them indoors and looking back, when I think of the losses I had with my outdoors mogs- one hanged from a tree, several killed by traffic, one shot with an air rifle, one ripped to pieces by an ex-racing greyhound and various others at some time attacked teased and tormented and traumatised by kids and thugs, I'm glad my lot now dont have to endure all that suffering.
