I understand everyones opinion on this subject differs, however given even the gravity of the situation I think that Tony Blair did nothing wrong in not returning from Egypt in the wake of the tsunami as there wouldnt be anything he could have done back in London. I think the reason most people are having a go at him is because of their dislike of him and the Labour government, its just another excuse to have a political jibe. Realistically, nobody else could have been saved and nothing else could have been done that hasnt already been done!

Tony Bllair was obviously on the various hotlines whilst he was on holiday, but: come on - he should have cut his holiday short and come home.

It just doesn't look right does it?

As one article in The Daily Telegraph stated, the country and its people got on nicely without the need for our Prime Minister to be here.

Charities got the cash rolling in, planes took off with aid and the British people did what they do best: offered help and prayers. Mr Blair needs a break (I was hoping about ten years) but he says he was on the phone everyday and naturally, we gotta believe him! (That's a bit of a joke, admittedly.)

Actually, he could have stopped there forever as far as I'm concerned.

This country might have just started working properly.

I think its important to remember that he wasnt just on holiday, he was also meeting heads of state in Egypt and cutting his holiday short would have meant canceling meetings with these key people.

I think its also important to remember that Tony is just one person in a huge chain and in many ways is just a figurehead, there are other people who are here in his absence but even still, he would have been talking to people and controling things from afar, he doesnt need to be in his leather chair in downing street to make things happen!?

I agree with some of the points, im sure Mr Blair was on the phone on many times and yes he needs a holiday just like everyone else. Things still did happen fine without him. How many companies around the world would function on a daily basis without their Managing Director or CEO - probably most as they tend not to be the workers but just the figureheads and thats why things still happen!?
