Evening gang,

Our landlord has provided with all the gear to set the house up with a wireless network which I set up when I moved in a month ago. A new guy has since moved in and although his laptop connects to the internet no pages will display in his browser  Keeps throwing up a DNS Error of some sort..

Ive tried renewing the IP addresses, I've rebuilt the wireless network but nada, refuses to work. Its a french build laptop if that makes any difference :? I know the network works as Ive had other laptops running fine on it..

Go to the network settings for the wireless connection (you didn't say which operating system/version it is, so I can't tell you how to get there - I'm assuing it's a Windows machine though), at the bottom; try changing the radio button to "Obtain DNS server address automatically". If it's already on this setting and it's not working change it to "Use the following DNS server address" and enter the IP address of your router (192.168.1.1 or whatever it is) in the box below.

Could be a number of things. Difficult to say given the info.

Try pinging the router, then an Internet IP address, then a URL (www address) and post whether each replied. Should give a better picture of what's at fault.

Just check the protocol that the wirelss card in his machine is running against the Router configuration.

I onbce had problems running 802.11b and 802.11g protocols against the same router.

But punk's right - get some pings posted and we'll take a look. :)

Im trying to reset everything, I cant decided if its a DCHP Config, Static IP, PPPoE etc... I have no clue!

Looks like the housemates will have to get their own connection :hihi:
