Bloody computers! duffman 09-01-2005, 20:20 It shows he played for West Ham and Charlton but he is probably most famous for when he was at Wednesday and the push on the ref' I think he scored in that match too, so is there something he has against Roma or is it just a heat of the moment Derby thing? igm1 09-01-2005, 21:49 To be honest though we could accuse Alan Shearer of a fascist salute when he celebrates :P http://sweb.cz/bestfootball/images/shearer.jpg igm1 09-01-2005, 22:03 Originally posted by duffman I think he scored in that match too, so is there something he has against Roma or is it just a heat of the moment Derby thing? Roma, I think, was Mussolini's favourite team.... It comes from the ancient roman salute. Hitler adopted it 'cos he wanted to be as great as the Roman empire but in Italy it still has the same meaning as it did in ancient times. So it does'nt mean to say he's a racist or anything. Its just the media getting into a frenzy as usual. Still a stupid thing to do though! Very true, but Lazio do have a strong affiliation with right-wing extremism. It was Lazio, I've read, who were Mussolini's boys. Di Canio's always been a bit of an "eccentric", shall we say. Perhaps his over-enthusiasm can be excused somewhat by the fact that a) he's a lifelong Lazio nut, and b) his team, a shadow of its former self, had just thrashed their bitter local rivals. owdlad 11-01-2005, 09:47 Originally posted by Greenback Very true, but Lazio do have a strong affiliation with right-wing extremism. I think it's easier to justify his "eccentricity" if we admit he's just crackers. |
