Is there a good laserquest or similar in or around Sheffield? Any recomendations?

Bank Street. I think it's good, but it's the only one I've ever been to, so treat my opinion with caution!

Recently had 'new' equipment from one of their other branches in Notts I think and they redid some of the game room. Better scoring but rubbish equipment.
Have been told they are having real new gear in 2005 instead of recycled junk.
Changed the pricing structure in a really dubious way last I went.
But, LazerQuest is a great game and there's no competition in Sheff so they get away with it.

They have got new equipment in, but it is even worse than before, the game is now Quasar and is horrible to play, avoid at all costs.

Perhaps this would be an interesting extra for La Chambre to host?
Can these lasers burn exposed "bits"?

If they could, I would be aiming them at the heads of the staff that made the decision to change things, it used to be a good place, not anymore.

Why not come and try paintball instead?

Much more fun.

Dangerzone is the best in the area (just up near Strines, shop at Hillsbrough).

They have many different game zones from villages to streets to a large castle on the hill and woodland stuff. Great mix of games from capture the flag to some decent team vs team sort of games.

The guns (markers) are better than the poor 'laser' guns at quasor and you can also use smoke grenades, flash bang grenades and paint grenades, all of which are available on site.

If you've not tried it then get yourself up there now. I tried it a few times and now have all my own kit and go every month to the 'wal on day' which is where everyone with their own kit plays for a special low price.

For more information call Chris @ Dangerzone on 0114 2852477

Once you've played paintball you won't go back to quazor.

(if you've played at Skirmish etc. then try here, it's about 10,000,000 times better)

I went to that Laserzone about a year ago, but I herard that since then they've changed the game rules and you now need to recharge your gun every so often :S

That sounds good, would a big group of SF people be up for it ?

Paintball is x20,000 better but so so expensive if you want to do it properly, you have to buy the paintballs and everything and if you want to shoot 1/2 as much as you would like to its gonna cost u upwards of £25-30.

You are correct, add to that the fact that the packs are like those that american footy players wear which constricts your movement and also that the guns "speak" to you, so 90% of the time your trying to figure out what the stupid gun is saying, the game is now rubbish, avoid at all costs, big waste of any amount of money.

I used to think paintball was expensive, but now I have got in to it properly and play every month I know differently.

In paintball you tend to fire less as there's more to the game, more tactics and more manouvering etc. instead of just running round blasting like mad and waiting to be 'reactivated' every few minutes.

If you're storiming a building on the streets map you don't charge in blasting like mad (ok, you can but it doesn't always work), you lob in a smoke grenade, then cover the window while your mate kicks open the door and the rest of your team destroys the enemy in the building before you move to the next one or get hit back. Much more fun and definately much more team work.

Also it's not that expensive if you go to the right places. This Sunday I am playing for a full day (9-5) at Dangerzone and I'm paying £55 for the day. This includes 2,000 paintballs (which will easily last the day), unlimited gas, lunch (normally burger and chips), soup and unlimited teas, coffees and biscuits etc. all inclusive.

Now work out how much a full 9-5 days at lazerzone or quazor would cost and also add lunch, refreshments etc.

If any of you are interested in playing paintball at these rates or want your own kit (you CAN get it for less than £100 despite what you are normally told at places like Skirmish, and not crap stuff either) then PM me.

i've visited Laserzone, or Quasar as it is now called, and have found the new equipment to be preferable. When playing with the old equipment, it seemed to break frequently, and this was not a problem with the Quasar equipment, which seems far more reliable. Another bonus of the new equipment is far more players can compete at once, which makes for a more interesting game.
