hey.anyone know how you go about getting a dj set somewhere?

Try the old fashioned way.. Go to potential venues/ask around. Tis what I do :D

Send em a tape, although in most places it's not how well you play, it's who you know. What kind of style do you play?

are you talking about a club or a pub?

If a pub, obviously it is a big pub full of people of your agegroup, then you go in regularly, and work out if there is an empty night when you can go and perform, and you either go up to the DJ and say "aright mate" and get fill in slots which lead to a residency or you find the landlord and make good friends with him/her and get an empty night up and running.

If a club, then you spend at least 20 hours a week promoting a night which you may get to run, the owners have got to have a reason to trust your industry and hard work. If you are one of these people who get out of bed after 10-11am then you are not going to make it, you need to have lots of energy and get-up-and-go
