Had the dreaded letter from my dentist today - "to improve our service we're going to force you into buying a dental plan from an insurance company etc etc"
Has anyone been through this process and if so can anyone answer the following.

What's the normal cost of a plan - I know everyones different but does it run into hundreds of pounds per year ?

Can the dentist strike me off his list if I refuse to join or want to pay-as-you-go ?

Are there any dentists left in Sheffield who do NHS work ? Whenever you see a new one opening on the TV there's queues round the block.

What's the cost of a check up or a filling if I pay-as-you-go. Recently I've been paying about £15 for check-ups and paid £20 for a filling renewal (NHS prices)

Thanks in advance

My dentist back down South changed to a private dental surgery but i could remain if i turned to denplan... i pay something along the lines of £22 all treatments are free inc scale and polish by the hygienist that is if you find a denplan dentist otherwise you can end up paying for it separately… cosmetic surgery isn’t you have to pay for laboratory fees... does work out cheaper in the long tho that is if you need to visit on a regular basis

Actually i haven’t signed up with a denplan dentist as yet so if anyone out there has any info for me that would be a great help… thanx

Lisa Needs Braces! Sorry, couldnt resist!

on topic, would he accept a dental plan with someone like Westfield? That way at least you are covered for other things too, not just dentistry?

I've been with Westfield for years now - if you need regular dental treatment and wear glasses - then it works out a very good deal.

Also, they have got really good admin for a local company, never once had to chase them for a cheque or anything.

Loopy.

yeah
Westfield every time. Have been in it for years, put claim in post and you get a cheque about 3 days later, it never fails. But they are just updating and you are now going to be paid directly into your bank, even better.

I cannot recommend them highly enough
