Have you tried contacting Veolia (http://www.veoliaenvironmentalservices.co.uk/sheffield/pages/recypostcode.asp) they do commercial recycling too.

Yeah veolia collect from our office two bins each week, one for general waste and one for cardboard and paper :)

We've just started a plastics recycling box at work. The office goes through a lot with all the different teams having milk and other drinks. Everyone is asked to squash the bottles and replace the cap, the boxes then get emptied weekly. I think the items from the boxes get taken by the cleaning service to a big plastics recycling box at the back of the building.

The amount of paper that we use is criminal

In that case it is almost as criminal to recycle it. What you should be doing is stopping the waste in the first place.

Unfortunately in a busy office stopping paper based work is impossible so the next best thing is to recycle :)

have you thought of letting the local playgroup have it for painting on the backs?

It possibly wont be possible for security purposes :)

If you have a paper bin next to every normal bin, it's no problem! Most office waste is paper anyway, so if everyone has a paper bin, then just a normal bin in other places it's no hassle at all! We're very good at recycling where we are! You do have to pay Veolia though, but they charge much less to empty a paper only wheely bin than a general waste one :)

It's not much at all really, and I'm sure it'll cut down a huge amount on your normal bin emptying! Not sure of the exact amount, you have to rent the bin from them and pay for each time it's emptied. We have a small office with 10 people and we have a big skip size bin for paper and card, and a normal household wheelie bin for general waste. Each is emptied once a week and it costs the same for the tiny little general waste bin to be emptied as the big paper and card one! For all that we pay about £60 a month, but I'm sure your company is paying for normal bin emptying anyway! I'll try and find Veolia's number tomorrow!
