Hi. is the any fans of these distinctive locos
made by N.B.L in the mid to late 50s and
withdrawn in the early 70s. I think some
D61** did work on the Eastern Region
anyone out there got any info on this. :)

There was a Bo-Bo on the East Lancashire Railway a couple of years ago. Don’t know anything about it, but it was there — and operating. ELR is based in Bury.

If memory serves me right, they were used predominantly by both the Western and Scottish regions of British Rail. Non of the designs were very successful and were relatively quickly replaced by other types from other companies. I am almost sure non survived into presrvation.

Elnac — One must have been preserved. Like I said, it’s on the East Lancashire Railway at Bury. Try it when they have a diesel weekend.

Before I start to sound too much like an anorach, Bo-Bo is a wheel arrangement which relates to how many powered axeles a loco has (too late!!) and was applied to many different types of loco's, and stil is.

Elenac — Thanks for that snippet of information. I’m not a railway fan, but I recall everybody being enthusiastic about being pulled by a Bo-Bo. You’ve added to my scant knowledge and I’m always willing to learn.
