Well,

I'm 23 and used to be quite fit and active(makes me sound like 40!), but lately i'm waining, and probably couldnt run a mile.....soooo i want to set myself a challenge, and am considering training to take part in some sort of eventy thing (i'm thinking triathalon etc, thought about marathon or run of some kind, but fear training will be too repetetive, but havent ruled it out)

I'm looking for someone of similar fitness (i.e. not very fit, i also smoke, but will quit, as i am guessing it will probably be necessary!) to join me in this adventure (male/female), after all i always consider training partners to be good motivation etc) I am prepared to go the whole hog, diet etc. Is there anyone out there that would like to do it?

I live in crookes area, so i guess close by ish would be helpful, i realise there are many other factors to consider, but if anyone is interested please post!!!!

We could even sponsored etc so it would be for a good cause!!!

Let's take this opportunity to get fit, be healthy, and help a charity or too!!!

Wow- I wish you luck in not killing yourself in this pursuit Dave!

I'm far too old, knackered and disabled to join you, but I admire the spirit.

Im looking for someone to train with as am quite unfit at moment but more into weights and boxing training as find running training a bit mundane and repeatative. Live in Shiregreen area though.

I competed in the London Triathlon this year and it is amazing experience over 12,000 competed.

I did it as part of a relay with work but next year am doing the full lot at olympic distance 1.5k swim 40k bike 10k run.

Its a great sport to get into as the 3 disciplines mean you are less likely to get bored and train more areas of your body.

I find it best to have a training plan at the moment I am focusing on the swim as I am not a good swimmer so I train at ponds forge tuesday and thursday and do bike work on my days off.

Also carefull not to do to much to soon as this is a sure way to injury.

Hi,

Have you got sorted with your training yet?

I've just started running again and thought about races - London marathon actually but don't know if it's too ambitious for me just yet. Have only been about 3 and a half mile up to now! Never done full marathon, only halfs many years ago and a 10km afew years ago but no running since. I also feel like a 40 year old. But my excuse is - I am!

Tried to enter 10km race in December and thinking of other shortish races for incentive.

Triathlon sounds good.

I go biking (MTB) with my brother once a week if we get it together and that's very hard sometimes but good alternative exercise. You could join us I'm sure.

Have some other commitments so not sure how I'd fit in with you but let me know.

Wouldn't mind doing diet and stuff - need to keep myself in check!

Cheers.
