Dear bonny,
If you have further information please let us know.
As far as I am concerned Aquabox are happy to recieve donations but are not prepared to accept clothing etc.
I think that you can buy (technically you donate in return for an empty box") "boxes", pack them with the requested specific items and then return them for the charity to distribute as necessary.
It may still be possible to do something collectively, but it is not as simple as giving goods.

After your posting I contacted Aquabox and have recieved this reply:
Thank you for your email
This is the first I have heard of an internet forum with regards to Aquabox. Can you give me any details (address) please so that I can check what has been said and send a correction if necessary. There are several donor options for Aquabox from filling a standard boxes yourselves with humanitarian aid items to donating money for us to provide Aqua 30's which contain equipment to provide 33,000 litres of purified water. Please see our order form on the website for further details. Our website will also have a tsunami page, within the next two or three days, specifically to give details of the current position.
We have not organised a specific tsunami project as Aquabox is ongoing to supply purified/clean water to disaster areas. Our workload has increased enormously because of this disaster and we are hoping that many more boxes will be despatched within the next few weeks.
Up to now we have sent:
300 Boxes to Sri Lanka on Tuesday via World Wide International Aid
600 Boxes to Sri Lanka on Wednesday via Methodist Missionary Society
640 Boxes to India on Thursday via Blythewood Care

Great information, peeps!
Many thanks for bringing this project to the Forum's notice.
Moved here after it was suggested that it might get more coverage and it's based (relatively) locally - Wirksworth.

Why would they need to do that?? What did you email to them??
I put the link up so that everyone could see their site and didn't elaborate anymore than that so how could they think we are misinforming people???? It explains on there that there is a charge for the boxes and a charge to send a full box. It also tells you what you can fill a box with.
I was asking if we could do something as a forum ie: get some funds together to buy some boxes and send them. Filling them is the easy part.
They do accept clothing too. See here:

How about contacting Radio Hallam - they have been collecting clothes for the appeal! Perhaps we could make a collective donation from the forum!
