The dry cleaners in meadowhall opposite argos do it. We called in last week to get a quote as we noticed a sign in the window as we walked past.

The price depends on what you paid for the dress.

I would assume that if they do it, then other dry cleaners would too.

I need to get my wedding dress dry cleaned and boxed too. I'm nervous about using Johnson's as I know they send all the dresses they get to Rugby to be cleaned. Just worried in might get lost in transit. Does anyone know of a place which cleans them locally. i.e I can drop it off at the same place it is cleaned?

Just being paranoid!?

There is a dry cleaners that specialise in cleaning wedding dresses just of the roundabout in Chapeltown. They are reasonably priced also but I don't think they provide the box.

Might I suggest washing it yourself. Now I know that might sound like a scary prospect but I did and it worked out brilliantly. Took it to Johnsons in the City to have it dry cleaned and they quoted me £100 but then the lady pointed out that the label in my dress said it could be machine washed at 40 and recommended I did this as it would come up a lot better being washed than dry cleaned as they basically steam items rather than washing them.

My dress was two piece in that I had a mermaid style under dress and full length lace "coat" both with trains and put them both in the machine and they came out fantastically. I put the lace layer in a pillow case first just by way of protecting it a bit.

Ok they came out a bit creased but all I've done is put them in a box so if they come out again to be used they would need to be pressed in any case.

Take a look at the label and see what it says.

anyone heard of trash the dress? apparently it's becoming quite popular in america............you literally trash your wedding dress as part of a photo shoot - get it muddy, ripped etc....................photos look stunning but could you do that to a dress that means so much to you?
