Hey all, I'm another new one here! My partner and I are applying for jobs in Sheffield's city centre. As we don't drive, we would be relying upon trains, buses, trams. Would anyone recommend a nice area within the city to rent with good access to public transport?? We have a budget of roughly around £500pcm.
Thanks!

Handsworth. More busses than you will know what to do with. Not much here but 500 quid will get you a small palace. It will get you a one-bed flat on the posh side of town.

agreed, 500 will not get far in the city centre. look in the accomodation section on this site, there is usually somebody willing to make a deal on something you will like.
thats great, thanks for the advice!
What areas outside the city centre would you recommend that have good access to public transport?? Looking to extend budget £5-600 now!
Thanks!!!!!!
hiya we have just moved to sheffield and we have a really nice place in walkley its quiet, convenient and close to town and has a good bus service our place is £550 a month for a 3 bed terrace so you should be able to find some thing for £500. Good luck x

Ecclesall, Nether Edge, Crookes and Crosspool (all to the South of the City) all have good links to the City Centre, as they are part of the Overground Bus Network, so a bus is supposed to arrive every 10 mins or less.
However, like the City Centre these too can be a little on the pricey side, as it's where a lot of people want to live. Although £600 would probably get you a decent sized house, but prob with not the most modern decor. Best value for money though is usually a private landlord.

I'd suggest you take a look at Woodseats on the south side of the city. Loads of buses go into the city, there are plenty of terraced houses for rent and Woodseats itself is quite a busy shopping area so you don't have far to go for the groceries.
That's great! Thank you all very much for your responses!
